All these talks of Tattoos making me wonder if I wanna get a Tear drop tattoo on my face.😢

😅

Hi @Grace j Sounds like you think it's quite intriguing.

Katherine Schaeffer of the Pew Research Center reported last year that a majority of women in the US aged under 50 (18-50) are tattooed. ( source: pewresearch dot org). Seems as if in some ways getting a bit of ink is gradually getting to be as mainstream as earrings.

I saw this about what you mention:

'Teardrop tattoo (wikipedia) The tattoo is sometimes worn by the female companions of prisoners in solidarity with their loved ones. .. Sometimes the exact meaning of the tattoo is known only by the wearer.'

'If a tear drop tattoo is placed quite obviously under the eyes, it can be done more discreetly in fingers..Thierry Henry, Arsenal F[ootball]C[lub] striker of Gypsy origin, explained in an interview.. the choice of his own, as a lot of tears have poured throughout his life. For that’s usually what the tear drop tattoo comes to represent: knocking at the door of a past or present..As they are small and relatively simple, teardrop tattoos should not cost more than $50. Depending on the reputability of the artist, throw in a few extra dollars.' source: favvosee dot com

If the teardrop tattoo can connote a whole range of things from the disturbing to the benign, it — or even just a bit ink in general — might conceivably fall into the sort of category of what you yourself said on the other thread: 'Some culture may look at male ear piercing with a frown and different culture may find it among "must do or must follow" traditional thingy according to them.'

@NConly It's Korean, right? On the one hand in neighboring Japan tattoos have seemed to be a bit gang-related, yet in the Korean Taekwondo (I think there's even a word for the women's section of Taekwando's One Championship) it seems like nearly everyone gets his or her inking with confidence. (You would likely know a bit more than me.)

Some tattoos are indeed rather modest:

Fact is that several decades back tattoos might have been associated with bikers and sailors.

Yet today, for example, in some areas such as in the Bible Belt if you see a group of bikers arrive at a freeway parking lot, in helmets and leather outfits - and as it may turn out a bit of ink also - it may actually be the sisterhood from a local baptist church that is out for a weekend trip.

These days it often seems straightforward to receive a modest bit of faith- and family-related inking. JasperWalls11 is probably accurate in his observation:

"I actually know more women than men with tattoos.  The tattoo parlors here are very well lit, very sanitary and don't have that dingy, "underground" or back alley image that most people think of.  They are rather reputable places."

Ha, soo true. It would be narcissistic of me to insist people adhere to my personal opinion. The value of a point of view is derived from its kindness and consideration of other preferences.

Hi @Scott Free

Yes it seems like so many young Christian men and women emerge confidently from a tattoo parlor, with something faith-based as a ready-made witness tool.

I read how one Christian young lady said about a lot of Scripture tattoos and her missions trips:

From my last trip everyone got a scripture tattoo..Some meaningful scriptures. One girl said she was so thankful .. realizing she could relate the tattoo to her life..I had that tattoo planned out for nearly a year (11months) .. Maybe next year when I go back (these trips are going to be regular every 4 or so months trips) I will get another. ..One guy decided last minute but everyone literally spent hours on their phone that day looking up verses and verse tattoos ..They are meaningful to them

I guess it sometimes takes a bit of confidence in one young Christian to enable another young Christian to have the confidence to have it done.

I need not hear about tattoo artists, precautions, sanitation, etc. Druggies have access to free unused needles everywhere. It takes a giant leap of faith to trust someone not in the health field having a person’s health and welfare in mind.

Hi @Dennis1209 I take your point, back a bit, about the need for great care in health and sanitation.

Interestingly, comments seen about those who word in the health care professions may be a bit relevant.

@NConly Someplace I read that the One Championship champion — Angela someone from Singapore — has 13, and expects to get more tattoos.

It's not that they are supposed to get them. It's more that if they go into the martial arts they themselves as a natural thing, I guess, expect to express themselves in that way.

(Similarly Christian young men and women from 18 onwards seem to find a faith-based tattoo design as a natural way for them to express themselves and create opportunities to talk to ppl, especially of their own age.)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
