This is a song by a Christian Hardcore band named Zao, and it's off their album The Funeral of God, which, despite it's name, is not about the death of the Eternal One, but rather, what if God gave up on humanity and left us (not likely at all, but still a scary concept)

The bolded lyrics are supposed to be God, and the italic lyrics may or may not be God, it's hard to tell

It is a scary thought, and I bet a lot of people think that God has given up on us or will. But the fact is that He will not - He has promised. Even if there is one rightious person in the city He would spare it. All it takes is one truly Rightious person to be in this world to save it, and we know there are more than one rightious person out there.

Lyrics like that seem to come from some very fearful people...fear is something Christians do not need to have, because God will protect us, and He will be there for us.

I wouldn't let their fear of abandonment bother you. That is the band's problem...you know God is there for His children, and that is that.

I suppose they understand the message they are trying to convey, but I dont. I dont see how these lyrics minister to, or bring comfort to believers, or glory to God. No one needs to respond. I am expressing my opinion, not trying to debate.

Well, a good deal of their songs do indeed glorify God and Christ, especially itheir firdt 4 albums, and they're not paticularly evangelical in their music

I think that is exactly what they are trying to do: show us what it would be like if God did give up on us.

My thoughts are that they are trying to show people who take God for granted, what it would be like if God were not there anymore.

edit:it just occured to me, I should clarify that this song doesn't make me afraid that God will give up on us, but just the thought of God giving up is what terrifies me.

Many have asked, have they finally gone off the deep end. Not at all! This a concept album 100%. It has been reported that Dan Weylandt, lead vocals, had a dream and this is his musical interpretation. The concept is what if God decided that His ways have been rejected so completely that He just decides to disappear forever...what would become of mankind if God chose to die...in effect to go to sleep forever? It isn't a happy though but something to think about and in the end be thankful that God has more grace than we could ever possibly imagine. They also add that each song is a chapter in the story of humanity's final decline.

They're not saying to "curse the one that made you". I believe they mean "(You, as in humanity) curse the one who has made you". Something I see all the time. People saying "I hate God" or "God is a Tyrant!", and that's even assuming theey believe in God

A thought occurred to me last night as I was attempting to go to sleep:

Let's say (hypotheticall, of course) that God did just get so disgusted with Humanity that he just gave up.

Now, in this scenario which will most likely never occur, would you think God would more likely:

a)give up and "go to sleep forever", much like in this song or

b)just destroy everything, wiping the slate clean, so to speak
