TikTok

Who censors whom and why?

Is "my information" that is "out there" a real threat to me or is that suggestion  a false premise,  a strawman used to take power away from those that will share without the blessing of "government"?

Does China really gain from knowing  me, and of me, because of something Tik Tok may know of me?

Seems to me the great threat  to my well being comes when  I am censored, or others are censored from me.

As is presented  by Rfk Jr. "When all the people are out fighting one against another outside the gates of the palace the king and queen pop champaign, for they know  no one is coming over the gate to get them." The kings and queens of this world are keeping the people greatly agitated with each other,  while the kings and queens do pop their champaign and celebrate another day  at their  palaces above it all  gathering  in all the pleasant things for themselves.

So what of Tik Tok? What could they gather about you that is not already known about you, that could be damaging to you? ???

Now the censoring by such as facebook or X, or whatever one may call themselves on any given day, that it seems is the same evil as the kings and queens participate in. I can withstand too much freedom of expression, though some may irritate me, but I may not survive censorship for that shuts down the mind that God gave me for discerning good from bad.

If in doubt, don't.

FWIW, TikTok along with other social media is having negative, even deadly, results on our children, I favor banning all social media -including TikTok to anyone under 18 the same way we ban alcohol, drugs, firearms and tobacco to them.

Banning, an interesting word. I do think "education" the sharing of presumed or studied facts for consideration to be  better than banning. For education is I think far more effective a power than prohibition.

I as example used tobacco at age 8 and drank alcohol by age 12,  but I was not educated nor was other ways to live life made known to me.

I was not given very definite reasons to take in and consider in order to establish my  course of life. The mind always wants to ask why? An answer of because, "because I say so", just doesn't provide enough impetus to keep one away from whatever is banished.

Like the demon cast out brings back many friends  to a cleaned out house that has not been filled up with other occupants, just say no  (Or censorship) fails  at least in part because it does  not provide any do's with which to occupy  a mind,  so that  many demons cannot come and take up occupancy. In that I find is a flaw in banishments in general.

Do I think that  a US congress has the good intention of protecting me from doing my own thinking reasoning and decision making? Gee, no I don't. I can ignore all  the apps available without government censorship. I credit others the same ability to decide for themselves. Information is key to all that is good.

Ah ha, follow the money "they' say- And already we have Steve Mnuchin on the scene stating he is putting together a group to buy TikTok.

"Steven  Mnuchin is an American investment banker and film producer who served as the 77th United States secretary of the treasury as part of the Cabinet of Donald Trump from 2017 to 2021"

Lord save us from our benefactors.

So would you use "education" about alcohol, tobacco, and firearms in place of our current legal restrictions and bans on them for purchase and use by children?

Do you actually think that would work in today's world where TikToc challenges have resulted in many injuries and deaths amd suicides and such among our children who have already been relegated to the government for their education in mores and values for the most part?

I'm more of a mind to think it would actually make the problem worse for a number of differing children's psychological developmental reasons.

They should ban tictoc. It’s deadly like porn. It corrupts young minds being formed. Remember in acts after they turn to Christ they burned the books ?

Tictoc is a bitter sweet.  There are funny stuff that can put a smile on your face.  Then there is the violence and obscene , vulgar things.  For kids, it should be a  definitely  supervised or banned area . Just like the rest of social media, it is the world we live in today and as the popular slogan goes "buyer beware ".

The data they collect isn't the problem.  They could just as easy purchase it from other places especially FaceBook.  They collect less data at tictoc.

The problem is that people don't have access to the algorithms that decide what is put into your feed to see. That's where the censoring begins. That is especially the case with political information where they decide what you can and can't see.

Hi, That seems to be occurring with EVERYTHING I LOOK AT online if I don't get a popup "I'm here to help you" I get  a whole series of immediate text messages and emails on related subject matter. Annoying? Sometimes it annoys, sometimes not, like much  of life's encounters.

I look at incoming email on real estate daily. As soon as I do, I get a message "I notice you are looking at such and such an address would you like  me to research that area and schedule a tour?" Is it it misleading me? All information may mislead me. I do have to do my own due diligence. Why I even get "alerts' from WCF mixed in with many a misleading email to sort through.

What I am finding interesting right now is even before TikTok is formally forced to sell by an act of our federal government there are other parties that have had association with our federal government  gathering to buy it. Will they not try to influence me? Will they not use algorithms to select how to influence me? All Veeery interesting!

Ah no I don't. Please expand a bit on that if you will. I am not following your thinking so far.
