Its good to come here and listen to sermon but its your responsibility to go back home and read & study it for yourself.

Yep, the Bible’s admonition:

Acts 17:11 (KJV) These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Noble: Open-minded (BDAG)

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. :3  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; :4  And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

It is just for that reason I stay away from books such as 'The Gospel of Peter' or 'Barnabas' or 'The Book of Enoch,' that are perhaps good history books but are not Scripture, lest I be confused when teaching and quote or use them as scripture. I have enough trouble keeping Scripture addresses correct without adding 'ghost scriptures.' Good word.

Good morning,

I agree that extrabiblical texts and pseudodepigrapha are not inerrant, are not part of our canon, and were not inspired by the Holy Spirit. However, they are essential for studying cultural and historical background and understanding biblical texts.

Herodotus, Josephus, I Enoch, and especially the Qumran Dead Sea Scrolls give us insight into what was thought, taught, and believed during the 2nd Temple period.

The ancient Eastern mind and the modern Western mind do not think, believe, and reason alike. To understand history and the Bible better, we must enter their minds, thoughts, and beliefs.

I could cite many examples, but I will use one for brevity. I will fear no evil, the shadow of death is an actual place, the territory of Og, King of Bashan, in the shadow of Mount Hermon. Historical writings are littered with what the Jews believed about what happened at Mt. Hermon, who descended atop the mountain, and the consequences. We get brief accounts in Genesis 3:15 and Genesis 6:1-4.

It clarifies why and where some biblical events occurred that were not fully explained in scripture. For instance, why did Jesus leave Caesarea Philippi (home of the god Pan) with Peter, James, and John in tow? As the crow flies over rugged terrain, they travel about 17 miles NE to the middle of nowhere wilderness. Why did Jesus select this particular spot for His transfiguration?

What was there at the time of Jesus’s transfiguration, what remains to this day, and the ruins and rubble of what ancient pagan temple?

Matthew 16:18 (KJV) And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

These gates of hell are offensive blockades and barriers that will not prevail against Christ and His church. Why was it necessary that Moses and Elijah be at Christ’s transfiguration, and what did they talk about? What was Peter, James, and John’s role in being there and witnessing? Can we draw any reasonable biblical conclusions?

The real Yeshua hung around the kinds of people that the Religious and Pius people rejected and even the majority of Preachers and Christians reject and avoid to this very day.   Most of today's Church Members would have rejected Yeshua and His precious Gospel.

The Chosen series, based upon the Bible and personal assumption of who Yeshua might have been as a human being outside of His true God identity has actually touched the kinds of people today's Church has rejected and judged unworthy of effort to save.

I have watched all 5 seasons and then watched the Testimonials of those who have accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior.   Lives attempting at warp speed trying their best to find the gates of Hell and become permanent residents have not only stopped in their tracks, but have done a complete 180° and accepted the invitation given to them by God and are current Brothers and Sisters of each one of us in Christ Yeshua.

I do agree that I will watch a scene and understand that happened this time and realize there's a storyline being created.  I understand that some of the people behind the scenes are living lifestyles opposite of God.  I definitely can plainly see things that make no sense.   I also see who has given the largest sums of financial support and tend to have some sort of say to the process that their Church beliefs do not align anywhere with my Church Doctrines.

I have also watched several actors in the series on their own account be real Testimonials for God and have come against mainstream Hollywood standing up for God without wavering and swaying under the pressures to be conformed.   I have watched interviews that led to others without God wanting to learn more about God and several now living for God as result of those actors being a true light in the midst of the darkness.

Ultimately speaking here, I am convinced more good towards the moving of God has taken place compared to the few things that I could tear down.

I would even project that more people are coming to Yeshua from this series in 5 short years than every member of Worthy Chat combined had led to Christ in the past 20 years.

I will definitely, as long as God allows me to live on this earth, watch the final 2 seasons and finish out the series.   I will also watch the Testimonials of more new Brothers and Sisters who've found what I did so long ago and cherish even more today than ever.

Who knows, this might be how God is stirring up the masses in the Last Days before He Returns.   But when we compare the First Church and new converts we read about in the Book of Acts, or the new converts who came to God in the outpouring of God's Spirit at Asuza Street that led to 60 years of constant Revival, the Chosen series has touched billions of people and introduced hundreds of thousands if not millions of new converts worldwide.

I don't need to always understand how God works to know if there's true and real sincere results to shut up, pray that God has His way, and be more concerned about my own issues.

The original OP and message is this: "My point is NOT to tell you not to watch.  My point is just to be on guard with ANY film or tv show that professes to be teaching you about Christ"

There are multitudes of people that are born again that were touched spiritually while attending a Roman Catholic mass, or by the zeal of Mormon missionaries, or by the example of the persistent witnessing of Jehovah's Witnesses, but I would never recommend anyone to pursue them or their teachings or attend their services in order to be saved. God used Balaam's ass to speak but that doesn't mean we should go about listening to donkeys.

So true, God can work in situations that most ask is it possible to find God in that.  Honestly, we shouldn't be so concerned with how someone found God but be there to rejoice that they did.

The second commandment (Ex. 20:4; Deut. 5:8 prohibits images of Christ.

In Exodus 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

Deut 5:8 Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:

No matter what they do, no matter how hard they try, the image that they create and put in front of us is a false one.

I believe that the written word of God is enough along with sharing and teaching it.

I also believe they are merchandising the Lord Jesus Christ. In the New Testament “Jesus” taught to share the Word of God freely as he did. Think of the millions, they are making. "1 Ti 6:10  For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

I do rejoice however, I think we should be concerned how it happens. Paul certainly was, when he told the churches of Galatia not to accept anyone who proclaimed a false Gospel. I would never trust what a Mormon or Catholic or JW told an unbeliever about Jesus. Jesus said, John 7:38  "He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. " The key being "as the Scripture has said" not, as so many say that they believe in "Jesus" but to them He is either still on the cross, one of many little 'gods', or a spirit brother of Lucifer. God is concerned with how He is presented, and as Christians we should be careful not to add to or subtract from Scripture when presenting the Gospel or recommending a method or presentation that is of questionable reliability, which the Chosen most assuredly is.

Have you at any time paid to watch the Chosen series if you watched any of it?   I haven't paid as much as a copper penny but watched all 5 seasons for FREE.  Yes, there's merchandise for sale like any production because it requires actors, behind the scenes camera-persons, costumes for the series, and much more but I have watched it all for FREE.

If it was truly about money I would be required to pay to watch.

Therefore, I reject the notion this is about money.

I believe the biggest objection to this series is that it's really winning souls and sadly Christians are screaming foul.   May God see the injustice.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
