Shouldn't mess with our coffee...

Good news: The case for coffee is stronger than ever. Study after study indicates you could be getting more from your favorite morning beverage than you thought: Coffee is chock full of substances that may help guard against conditions more common in women, including Alzheimer’s disease and heart disease.

Caffeine is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about coffee. But coffee also contains antioxidants and other active substances that may reduce internal inflammation and protect against disease, say nutrition experts from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

What are the top health benefits of drinking coffee?

Your brew gives you benefits beyond an energy boost. Here are the top ways coffee can positively impact your health:

  1. You could live longer.

Recent studies found that coffee drinkers are less likely to die from some of the leading causes of death in women: coronary heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease.

  2. Your body may process glucose (or sugar) better.

That’s the theory behind studies that found that people who drink more coffee are less likely to get type 2 diabetes.

  3. You're less likely to develop heart failure.

Drinking one to two cups of coffee a day may help ward off heart failure, when a weakened heart has difficulty pumping enough blood to the body.

  4. You are less likely to develop Parkinson's disease.

Caffeine is not only linked to a lower chance of developing Parkinson’s disease, but it may also help those with the condition better control their movements.

  5. Your liver will thank you.

Both regular and decaf coffee seem to have a protective effect on your liver. Research shows that coffee drinkers are more likely to have liver enzyme levels within a healthy range than people who don’t drink coffee.

  6. Your DNA will be stronger.

Dark roast coffee decreases breakage in DNA strands, which occur naturally but can lead to cancer or tumors if not repaired by your cells.

  7. Your odds of getting colon cancer will go way down.

One in 23 women develop colon cancer. But researchers found that coffee drinkers — decaf or regular — were 26 percent less likely to develop colorectal cancer.

  8. You may decrease your risk of getting Alzheimer's disease.

Almost two-thirds of Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease are women. But the caffeine in two cups of coffee may provide significant protection against developing the condition. In fact, researchers found that women age 65 and older who drank two to three cups of coffee a day were less likely to develop dementia in general.

  9. You're not as likely to suffer a stroke.

For women, drinking at least one cup of coffee a day is associated with lowered stroke risk, which is the fourth leading cause of death in women.

All of the worldly accepted drugs alcohol, nicotine and caffeine have health side effects.

Caffeine:

1. It is addictive

2. Heart arrhythmias

3. Anxiety

4. High blood pressure

5. Abdominal pain and indigestion

6. Tremors

Yes, I read that also. And, just like over eating can be addictive and cause obesity along with so many health problems, or we can eat a healthy amount to stay healthy.

The medical report I posted also said the same as you posted, just like IF you're over eating, or drinking too much coffee, can lead to become addictive and unhealthy, same as over drinking or smoking :)

Moderation is the goal.

Thanks MM

Your car's computer, eh?

"Hal, turn off the dome light please."

"I'm sorry, @Neighbor, but I can't do that. It's statistically proven that lack of a dome light after sunset leads to driver drowsiness."

Ha, I turn the dome light off  period; don't want it "lighting me up" when I open the door.

All the computer info visuals alerts and navigation light up enough plus satellite radio blurping out it's display. I actually used the name Hal for an early era auto dialer phone  system back in the day.

Only one drink or less per day for a woman. One or two drinks a day for a man. That is what is safe and healthy.

Hi, By whose rule is that one?

Don't know about healthy, but it is my own understanding that  regardless of gender it is the liver that determines how much alcohol the human body can  process, and that amount is  approximately  one half once of grain alcohol per hour. That info dates back to the days I was often involved  with the local coroner's office. The point not being the amount nor proof so much as the idea that  the liver functions at a particular rate regardless of adult size and gender. All doesn't really matter to me personally, as I do not consume alcohol. I stopped many decades ago.

Plus the Holy Spirit relieved me of my tobacco use when He turned me about to seeing that Jesus is my Lord  and savior. It was a personal gift to me. At the time I smoked up to five packs of cigarettes a day as I  worked approximately 18 hours each day. That was some forty six years ago. I to this day enjoy three to four cups of morning coffee. I used to consume far more but have cut way back in my own "old age".

One thing I have noticed over the years is that no matter what, everyone  seems to up and die. Doesn't matter how hard they work at being healthy, they just up and die. Being prepared of spirit and soul for that event is far more important than looking good when death over takes the physical body.

Something that is more deadly than any of these things is carbs and sugar.  The food pyramid is a lie.  Carbs are killing us.  They are the number one cause of Type 2 diabetes, obesity and Alzheimer's.  They are now even referring to Alzheimer's as type 3 diabetes.  Sugar and carbs are also addicting.  Everything comes back to that, addiction.

Cautions need to be applied to these new non alcoholic beverages.

Caution also needs to be applied because non-alcoholic drinks usually have more sugar than alcoholic drinks to compensative for a loss of taste due to less alcohol.

Still, most cardiologists recommend a glass of red wine for a heart healthy life.

Cardiologists used to recommend a glass of wine a day for health reasons but many of those Cardiologists are not doing that any longer because it led to abuse.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
