Are you better off now than you were four years ago?

My groceries went sky high.   I don't drive but neighbors have a hard time buying gas.  Brief video.

With Christ, yes I am better, but always a work in progress as it is.

No, our House taxes up 1/4% from last year. 200.00 buys 100.00 worth of food.
Materials to build and repair have gone up well over 50% on many items especially anything made of wood.
Auto parts as well as cars are all up. 

I mean the list goes on and on Eggs with Trump a case was 6.99 at Walmart for a large box.
Its now 18.65 . And all food is up.  

If we have another 4 years we will also lose Taiwan's chips as China is already position.
MHO she wins we will have a Global war with Russia and China.

Our grocery bill for two people exceeds our mortgage and we are frugal in our choices.

:-( If it was not for doing some good investing in 2020-22 . We would really be in a horrible position. 
I am not in a good one right now. Its scary. I am grateful for what I have and we also live simple.
I drive used older vehicles one is a 2007, Same TV for 15 years. LOL. We only buy something when it breaks.
And yet, we are just getting by. Breaks my heart to see so many losing their homes.

There is a practice in Oregon going on, because there are no laws protecting renters.
People are being removed from Apartments, they go in do some light remodeling and then near double the rent.
Its a small loop hole, that a person can be evicted under and everyone is doing it. In town here a large apartment gave everyone 60days to move. Then jumped the rent after " upgrades and remodels ".

We all tend to think in parochial terms: is OUR condition better now than OUR position was four years ago. I suppose it's a natural response. 

If we born again believers consider God's blessings in our lives, such as: our justification, our sanctification, our adoption as sons and daughters, and our coming glorification, and consider the eternal joy that we experience daily in Christ, we must confess that as we grow one day closer to being with our King,  we are so much better off now than we were four years ago. 

Do we struggle; do we suffer; do we go through pains and trials?  Count it all joy, for the eternal Lord is our refuge and strength, a present help in times of trouble. (Ps. 46:1).

May God our Savior and Lord provide for all our needs and continue to bless us with His guiding light.  In Jesus's mighty holy holy holy and precious name. Amen amen.

I am also frugal.   I now have to have my groceries delivered but when I was still grocery shopping, the prices would go up every two weeks!!!

The rents in Los Angeles and California are sky high.   However, if one lives in an older building, one is under rent control.   But the landlords can still raise the rent each year 3 or 4 percent.

Last January I got a $50 rent increase.   So this January it will be a bit more.   The rent increase is always more than my Social Security increase.

The only thing good about COVID was the mayor froze rents for 3 years.   However, I just missed the first year freeze by two months.
