The bible is full of the stories of the how God created the heavens and the earth, man chose sin, the penalty for that sin, God's judgement on sins(those horrible wars you "hate") becuase sin has to be paid for, God sending his son to die on teh cross adn rise again so we can go to heaven, what man has to do to be saved, and help and comfort and instruction for the Christian life. Yeah.. cruel indeed...

The Bible is a collection of books, written in different languages, in different places, in different times, by different men.
