As I remember back to past experience, I recalled a situation when new members were very good for the little church I attended.  The church was built by a family generations before.  The family didn't take part in leadership; but, were devout congregants.  When I first joined there, there were maybe 30-40 attendees.  New people joined over the years increasing membership to 50-60.  It was a happy, spirit filled church home teaching the Bible and celebrating in praise and worship.  Until... We outgrew the capacity of the building.  A few of us along with the Pastor visited other churches to see how to enlarge the current facility.  We also looked at the possibility of purchasing land and building a new and larger house of worship.  Growing in membership was a good thing, right?  We were in harmony about our faith and welcomed all who were seeking and sincere in pursuing the Lord.

Talking with other members about the possibilities for growth, a founding member called me a liar that the Pastor nor anyone else wanted to increase or enlarge the existing facility.  There were hurt feelings until the Pastor spoke up that changes were needed to accommodate the increased membership.  It was a difficult transition; but, a good solution was reached.

Just a thought:  vibes that are similar to ones own vibes, may tend to exaggerate to extremes. Perhaps unhealthy extremes. Whereas vibes that are counter to ones own may produce harmonics  that challenge, build, and fill out a fuller and stronger corporate local body of Christ.

Can't all be sopranos; and thank God for that.

The "vibes" in the warzone where I live (that's what this region of the city is called) are surreal. An example:

The dumpster vibe

There's apparently a fixation with dumpsters afoot which transcends the classic dumpster diver fishing for metal that can be sold at recycling centers. I observed a fellow arguing with a dumpster across the street from my old office one afternoon. I thought that it would be helpful to point out that the dumpster would come out on top (he started kicking the dumpster), but I thought better of it. Nah.

Then there was a disturbed individual whom I called "dumpster woman." Early one evening I heard quite the ruckus outside of my old office; I emerged outside to see a woman standing in a nearby dumpster yelling and ranting nonsensically. I prayed for her, and then I called the police department for I was concerned that she might be harmed from behaving in such a way. When the police arrived, they persuaded this woman to exit the dumpster and leave the area. A few weeks later, I witnessed this woman pass by the same dumpster, stop in front of it, and dig inside whereupon she produced a wig. She placed the wig on her head and continued on her way. Well then... okay. Utterly random but nevertheless in keeping with the neighborhood.

A depressingly common occurrence: one transports bags of garbage to the dumpster. Routine, yes? Surely, but here in the dumpster vibe nothing is routine, my friends. The bag of trash is pitched into the dumpster and a shout of protest is heard inside of said large container. A man suddenly materializes from the dumpster depths to complain about being bopped on the noggin by the sailing bag of rubbish. Well then... what does one say to that?

Occupational hazard, my good fellow.

That was a good read. I enjoyed it.  Thank you for sharing.😄

As a follow up to the "dumpster vibe," I'll discuss the different area vibe where our new campus is located. It's five miles (8 km) down the highway from where I live and where our old offices were located in the dumpster vibe... so to speak.

What's the vibe there? The sleeping vibe. What exactly is the sleeping vibe?

People are encountered sleeping on sidewalks or, in the case of the brand-new campus, sleeping in the communal area on the outside of the back of the main building. In the case of our sleeper, they were apologetic and politely left after their wake-up call.

I just call them feelings from God. Sometimes God will also put thoughts in my mind.

Dare I ask, what's a "footy"?

Football. Here in the U.S., it's known as soccer. I am assuming that a "footy" means a football match. @Michael37 will correct me if I'm mistaken.

In Australia "footy" has one meaning and one meaning only: Aussie Rules, or Australian Football League (AFL), sometimes affectionately known as "aerial ping pong".

The dumpster vibe

I personally suffer just a bit from the dumpster vibe. One day  a friend, who also picks scrap from dumpsters, and I saw lengths of threaded steel rod  in a  huge dumpster at the back of a grocery store being remodeled. He stopped we both said to our wives; be back in a minute! We gathered all the rod we could fit between the seats of his minivan as we were returning home from Church.

The wives, nicely dressed, were a bit aghast at our dive;  but hey I got a life ime supply of 8 foot lengths of 3/8s inch diameter threaded rod. Wow, what a deal.

Years later  and still kind looking for a use, but if I ever find it i'll already be supplied. Just picked up a water fountain, a cool looking one, in a the neighbor's trash. I'll put it on the steel work bench I got from another neighbor's trash,  and see if I can spruce it up and find a place for it, plus a place for the steel bench too. Hey if one day I find I have no use at  for it all, I can put it all out in my own trash. LOL.

I consider that activity outside of the dumpster vibe: it's the "classic" dumpster diver searching for specific materials. It's a service to society, brother. Removing recyclable materials from a dumpster reduces the burden on land fills, yes? It does.

If you weren't engaged in an argument with the dumpster... bathed in the dumpster (yes, that happens)... slept in the dumpster... then you are not part of the dumpster vibe.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
