Thank you for your service to our country, sir..

Oh yeah, I forgot you mentioned serving in the late 60's. Vietnam Vet? I graduated HS in 1974. I served subs from 75-83. Cold war vet earning war time qualifications because submarine qualification is considered wartime all the time, with hazard pay. Hard work and long hours, sure. Sleep much? Nope. But you can never forget the people you serve with and the value of the experiences.

One time we sat just inside Soviet waters and listened to PA announcements from the naval base in Vladivostok. We had 10 spooks on board doing the listening. When you are right out of HS, it seems like you are doing something very important and somewhat unique.

And then there was port of call Subic Bay, Philippines...

Two tours 66-67-68. Dropped out in 65 my senior year. Bored, my buddy also dropped out, joined the Marines, went to the Nam same time. Our pay checks were $96.00 a month, $40.00 combat pay(VN was a conflict, not a war:) The checks we received come from the "Department of The Navy"....default_cool2-Copy.gif.3bddba188837856757250bf1e822d121.gif

You were the squid in the tube, we were the grunts on the ground.

It takes a special kind of courage to live underwater, and I could never willingly made it. I get nervous when the elevator doors don't open immediately. Listening to 'pings' hoping echos were only big fish.      EEErrrooouuuggghhh!!!  image.jpeg.65327581edc838fa18134a1eea26e6ed.jpeg

The Navy loved Subic...

Lived in Manila a few weeks around the corner from Subic. Really beautiful place (Went there on my R&R later while in VN) Dad was in the Air Force, us family (7) followed him on the USNS Barrett, the only civilians on board and us kids always getting caught below decks getting into trouble. You know how those navy guys are...He was stationed at Clark AFB, but we first landed at Luzon at Subic to Manila a few weeks till transportation took us to Clark. No housing available for Senior Non Commissioned so we lived the first year off base at local Angeles city near Clark.

The best years of my childhood, sugarcane field front yard with un exploded WWII ordinance to look for/find and call the ordinance disposal guys. Jungle just a football field away, rode Carrabou buffalo, hunted parrots and macaws, monkeys etc, lotsa pets, made friends with locals, learned to speak native Tagalog, and had a blast. Rode in the Kalesas and bet you remember the Jeepneys..

sddefault.jpg.528aeb979e20903b7b3c770678d24aac.jpg

The native Negrito pygmies would come down of Huck mountain and sell us kids poisoned dart long blow guns and small bows and arrows they used to hunt food in the jungles. Huck mountain to locals was officially  Mount Pinatubo, that erupted in 1991, a 7.8 for the first time in 600 yrs. Killed a lot of people and ash went around the world. The ash and debris wiped out Clark where we lived.

I know it's doubtful, but I have a friend, Eugene 'Red' Willingham, a lifer, who served on several subs from the early 70's till sometime in late 90's, and thought I'd ask if you knew him. Seems we've been crossing paths a time or two.

Well . . . the following verses give hints as to what the apostle was dealing with:

[2Th 3:11-12 KJV] [11] For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. [12] Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

Evidently those disorderly persons were depending on others to feed them though they were able to work, they choose not to work and depend on the Christian charity of other fellow Christians to feed them. The key here is that they are able to work but refuse to do so.

Another part of this is that they are busybodies. Strongs defines this as:

to bustle about uselessly, to busy one's self about trifling, needless, useless matters

used apparently of a person officiously inquisitive about other's affairs

So . . . not only were they depending on others to work for them and to eat others labors in food, they were meddling in others business and home life where they had no business intruding into.

Hummmmm . . . . . . ..

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
