News or not news today

Hi all, just an observation and some little remorse too. 

The era of news thoughfully presented  seems to be long gone.

Magazines - gone, Newspapers -gone,  Now over the air evening tv international news- pretty much gone, Scripps over the airwaves 24/7 news though biased to the extreme left is also gone.Local TV news is just chit chat features of  where to buy the best  surgery food treats.

And online why that  is a wild west of animated hyper bloggers trying desperately to get hits by doing their harangues and screaming that was debunked or that was not debunked.

There simply is little thoughful news being presented.

Guess that leaves the Good News eh? Thick, well bound, timely, and well presented, almost infallible or inspired, even in English translations and transliterations.

Magazines are not gone but they sure are not what they used to be. They are very worldly and 85% advertisements. I won't buy another magazine.

There is a few newspapers still out there but they don't amount to much. I remember the really thick Sunday newspaper
years ago. I have a newspaper from the 60's. It would shock you to see that newspaper and what is in the news today.

I remember the great catalogs that Sears and Montgomery Ward used to put out. I used to like to go through them

as a kid and look at all the toys.

Telephones books are no longer. I used to like to go through that really thick telephone book. Sometimes they had

menus from restaurants.

We still get our Readers Digest every month. My wife gets her 'Better Homes and Garden', 'Woman's Day' and others, like "The Good Old Days", and 'Mother Earth'...     I still get the bills due..

I used to read Reader's Digest when I was waiting in the Dentist office or Doctor's office. I have not read it for years.

I liked it. The last magazine I got was Real Simple it used to be my favorite magazine. So was Good Housekeeping. Now

it is just a bunch of worldly garbage that I can not relate to at all. It was mostly advertisements. I will not spend my

money on another magazine.

I agree. Something else that stands out to me is that in most cases there isn't even an attempt to present it in a neutral fashion anymore. A lot of it is just biased opinion pieces. Post-truth journalism indeed.
