Perhaps you should order some spare parts :coffee:

Trying to stay all original with simply a patina. Maybe go for a clear coat finish to prevent further rust. soon I will be put in the barn to gather dust.

My primary physician said I am ruining his analogy. For when people ask him about their aches and pains he has them look out the window down to theparking lot  six floors below. He asks how many 1940's cars do you see out there? There comes a time that old parts just can't be replaced.

Now if I show up at his offices in a 1940's car...

He is a cool doctor, knows me and treats me like an old friend. He once spotted me at a restaurant some months after my first wife's death. He came over, talked awhile to see how I was doing, taking  his own time away from his dining family to do so.

God is kind in the many blessings of really good people  he has shared to my benefit.

Now I cannot support myself on my retirement.

I'm retiring from the school district as a teacher in Southern California and am moving to VT.  I would like to fully retire, but the numbers don't work out at this time, so I will have to at least work part-time out there.  But at least I can leave the cultural chaos out here!

There are alternative choices for survival.  They may not be my first choices as I would like a peaceful, simple lifestyle in my last years.  But, God has given me skills in several different areas.  I didn't always understand the leading; but, it's always worked for the good.  So I trust the Lord to open my eyes on how to serve in His plan.  Let it be a blessing to Him and others.

Hi,  My  primary physician of over 30 years or so has expanded his practice, taking over the entire top floor of the building attached to a local large hospital. He has added staff including  nurse practitioners and two more doctors. I can now get in the same day as I call, but if I need to see him personally I may need to wait a few days to a few weeks depending on the reason  I want to see him.

We have a large fire station in walking distance with paramedics, and ambulance service within 2 miles, a police station I could throw rocks a and hit- not that I would.

There are urgent care places I could walk to if I had need, and two hospitals within five to twelve minutes drive time, another major cancer facility within fifteen minutes of my home.  Can hardly ask for a better locale if one has need of medical care.

Every kind of medical specialist one can think of is right here too. Plus alternative medical treatment facilities.

It is really grand!- 'course the last diagnosis I got from my primary physician was "Bad parts".  I have bad parts. Oh okay, is that all ? Phew, glad to hear that diagnosis. I though  it might be something serious, but no I am just a junk parts pile.

If they increase their staff to take on more patients that is good. If the management will not let the clinic

add more staff that is what causes burnout.

So Cal to Vermont. Now that is an interesting choice! I would not have thought of Vermont. Why has it become your retirement destination goal? ???

Physicians now are experiencing a burnout. They are overwhelmed with all the illnesses and patient load.

Many are leaving their practices. There is a really good clinic near me and there are 2 doctors with

2,500 patients. 5 doctors are leaving another clinic I know of leaving the clinic with not

many other doctors to take over the patient load. They are turning patients away.

We still get Readers Digest and the September edition, 24,  discusses about this, called "What's ailing our Doctors"
Big investment firms now own over half the old 'private' hospitals and clinics, cutting doctors and staff, selling off liquid assets.

It's scary how the federal regulators have allowed this to happen, and insurance companies and physician groups are forming to try and stop this take over of healthcare by investment corporations/private equity firms.  Healthcare is a very lucrative investment.

Yes, some of those big companies that own the clinics are telling the physicians what they can and can't have.

If they need added staff they can't get it. So they are leaving because they are over loaded and stressed out with

burnout.

It is the elephant in the room but since Covid and the Covid vaccines there have been a lot more illnesses.

You will never see that coming from the CDC or WHO. I know of several people who have had some very

serious side effects. People who were otherwise healthy. Perhaps when RFK jr takes place we will see more

about all of this.

Big pharma has a lot to do with a lot of our medical problems today.

Two little grand twins is the main reason and to be closer to our son as we age.  Most teachers I know, head for Tennessee or Texas for the cheaper taxes and more moderate weather.  Living in New England is not cheap, but the area has grown on us, but yes, it is like a different country!

Yep the "homelands" beckons many but few actually return. Most of us do end up as half backs going half way back to Tennessee. Seems to me much of earth's human population is on the pathway to somewhere new. Those that try Texas from New England  seem to tend to return.

It's getting pretty expensive to make any  move. Any sort of lateral move seems  near impossible.  May your move and partial retirement be a blessing to you.

Course if one  has a California  state teacher's retirement, I guess one will never be freed of California Franchise Tax Board. Wow, could pay California,  Vermont, and the feds. Just the paperwork involved in similar obligations fries my brain.

I think the only way it will get better is if the country gets healthier.  Terrible food is part of it, but people need to exercise. The medical system is so broken.  They only treat people when they are sick.  They don't teach doctors to prevent illness.  Unfortunately, there is no profit in that.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
