Hi Eadweard:

Well, aside from all the reasons you find unacceptable, there's this....

Consider the number of contributing authors- over 40; the number of books - 66+; the span of time over which the books were written- 1500 years; the fact that it was originally written in 3 languages - Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek.

Then, as you read and study Scripture, you find how it perfectly intertwines, how each passage relates to passages in other books, how profound truths are reflected throughout, how things foreshadowed in the Old Testament come into being in the New.

I personally believe that you could take 70 of our best authors, lock them up together for 50 years, and give them the task of created such a work...........and they could never do it............not even if they had 1500 years. Yet the authors of the Bible--most of who did not know each other, writing in different languages, in different centuries, in various geographic locations, created this masterpiece that fits together like a perfect jigsaw puzzle.

It can only be Divine inspiration.

The VERY center of the Bible is Psalm 118:8 ---check it out!

And may the Holy Spirit move in you as you read His masterpiece.

Peace,

Fiosh

How do you know that the Bible is the word of God?

One note before anyone answers: please don't quote any bible verses in your answer since that's circular reasoning.

---------------

Hummm . . . I find this interesting. It is like issueing a challange to prove that a egg is a egg, without

allowing for the examination of the egg, , , or talking about the egg . . . I understand your wish to go

beyond "Because the Bible says it is the word of God", but not examining the very thing being talked about

sounds laughable to me. Science itself examines what is being studied . . .

If I may offer a suggestion (depends on how open minded you really are), I would not be so quick to

eliminate the Bible from any discussion that seeks to validate or in-validate the Bible ;-)

:emot-hug:

I don't think the bible is intended for people who do well and treat others properly. But intended for people who have problems and just can't get past their desire todo what is wrong. So it would effectivily help them.

I would contend that the Bible is to be used to teach others of God's plan of salvation. Whether they are happy or sad, good or bad, or whatever- the message is the same: Without Christ, we are doomed. The whole of the Bible is given to us for this reason. The common thread through out it's pages declare Jesus- not some quick pick-me-up for the depressed in life.

For example sakes. Take the creation of the world. Most admit the big bang, evolution theories are worthless. Now say you were on the fence with that debate, and believe it could of been christ it could of not been him who made this all happen. Then you need two resources to try and figure out your answer. A science, B the bible. C, conclude science doesn't cut it, and disregard the bible as you already have your answer.

Say what?

Example 2. Say you walk outside, take in a deep breath of air and think, wow no way this could of been a accident. It's warm, it's sunny the air is fresh. It's great. By thinking this you would of admitted to the existance of a higher creator, and won't need a bible or the word of god that deals with this, because you already just acknowledged it.

:emot-hug:

Acknowledging a "higher creator" is far from acknowledging the God of the Bible. Either you truly have no concept of this discussion, or you are saying this on purpose.

Tell me, have you ever read this Bible you speak of?

Bottom line is. If you want a factual standpoint on life. Use science.

If you want a moral standpoint on life. Use the bible.

Bottom line is: if you want any sense of the truth, ignore pretty much every thing our esteemed dood has posted here. It's no wonder that there are so many confused about the subject of God and of the Bible. With posts such as this, it's easy to see why many are confused.

I prefer a combination of both. Science helps my analytical skills. Bible helps when I have a hard time coping or found in a moral delima I don't understand. Thankfully it's not like my teens. People tend to get better as they age and having to intellectally pound the word of god into your head becomes less and less needed as we improve morally and do by right anyhow.

The truth is, it doesn't matter how we age, or whether we tend to "get better" as we age. Without the saving Grace of God and the Gift He has given us in the form of Christ, we are going to hell.

I pray, Eadweard, that you are able to see through the smokescreen of some of these people's posts, and come to accept Christ for what He has done for us. It's there for the taking, and made possible by His Blood. His blood has washed away our sins so that it is possible to be holy in front of God. One day, we will be faced with giving our account of ourselves. By accepting Jesus, we gain a mediator between God and ourselves. He testifies for us in the ultimate courtroom. Christ is our "lawyer", if you will, ready to plead our case for us.

This, my friend, is the truth of which the Bible speaks, and it is yours for the taking.

Phew that was long winded.

You said it better than I could ever hope to. In fact, it's about the only true statement you have written in this post. Please, if you want to give an honest account of the Bible, then go back and actually read it.

We'll wait.

If you still have reservations about it, at least you will be able to debate the matter with some sense of intelligence.

Have a good night.

The Bible mentions the nationality of Hitittes. Archaeologists always used to use this to say that the Bible was not true since they never found the nation of Hitittes. But they found it, altho I can't remember where they found it.

So how would a book that some people say not true have a record of a nation that archaeologists just found?

Thanks for the insults. I noticed the hell comments and the insults, isn't insults a sin?

Repentance is to stop sinning. Not sin then say sorry then to go out and do it again.

You are correct.

Please accept my apologies.

As for the Scripture thing, sometimes it just can't be helped. Truth is truth.

I think I addressed this in my first post in the thread.

Have a good day.

Eadweard are you asking these questions in hope that you find God? or what? Because if you truely seek after God, God will reveal himself to you.

What about supernatural healing.... how do you suppose that happens? Especially when we are praying to God for healing, and it's not wishful thinking. My sister was healed, had 3 fractures in her leg. Pastor prayed over her. No trace of the fracture, none what so ever. My grandma had a broken arm, they put a cast on her arm the day after she broke it, and after God had healed her. The doctor wouldn't believe her so they went ahead and put a cast on her arm. The next morning the cast was laying beside her inthe bed.

Seek God and you will find Him.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
