That was one of the reasons.  To die for our sins in the Perfect Sacrifice to remove us perfectly from our sinning lives.

The other was to be "The Living Word".  Which is the Word of the Creator, Jehovah/Yahweh, on our Creation as His Child in the Name of Jesus.

Yes, the infinite wisdom of God was surely on display regarding the multifarious results of the cross of Christ!  As it says in 1 Cor 2:8, "If the rulers of this age had known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory."  So, so much happened - the termination of old Adam's race and the release of the new creation in Christ!  The one Seed fell into the ground to die and burst forth in astounding glory - "Christ in you the hope of glory!"  (Col 1:27)

I agree.  But this is only for those who entered being Babies and drinking their Milk to enter the Fullness of Revelation on our Righteousness in Jesus.  Where we learn to Live it and Speak it in creating Righteousness in all our Baby Brothers and Sisters.  And then in being well spoken on it we enter eating our Meat.

Hebrews 5: 8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
  9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
  10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
  11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.
  12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
  13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
  14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

And slowly but surely this New Righteous Creation Manifests all over the earth in the Name and Live of Jesus being seen and witnessed and followed.  Not in trying to be "like Him" but in the Creation of God to be the Same.  Because the Word can only create what it is.  And the Word of Jesus creates the Reality we enjoy.

And then we enter the rest of our Spiritual Growth to the Fullness of the Word of Jesus our Father, Jehovah/Yahweh gave us in Jesus.

Eph. 4:  7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
  8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
  9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
  10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
  11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
  12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
  13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
  14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, andcunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
  15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

And in this "house meeting" we can again grow up in the Presence of our Father speaking from one another.  Where He enjoys being Head and Father in raising His Kids in His Life.  Where all the Brothers is raised by their Older Brothers to fathom what this Richness of His Glory to all are.  And then they become Carriers of the Glory too.

1 Cor. 14: 26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.

28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.

29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.

30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.

31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

The op asked a specific Question my answer is  Jesus knew he was going to the cross.The op did not ask about other aspects of the mission Jesus undertook.

1 Peter 1.10-11:

"Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow."

The Old Testament Scriptures thus showed already that the coming Messiah would suffer.

In Revelation 13.8 the Lord Jesus is described as 'the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world'.

The point of the op was He did not just stop at the cross - there was then all that was included in His resurrection... producing many grains. The cross facilitated that, but it was not the ultimate goal.

I agree it was not the ultimate goal or only goal and I did not say it was. I believe Jesus came on a mission and the cross was just one part of the mission. I do not read op's question as "what was Jesus's mission" as some do.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
