I was brought up in a Church that loudly proclaims fath.

Sure, I believed it.

I'd done it before, stood in faith.

But now............not sure.

The reason for this:

I briefly knew a young man.

He had a condition which was grave.

People from our Church "stood in faith" over him for the whole of his life.

He died.

Before reaching 25.

He was the delight of all.

Everyone loved him.

This isn't the only story I know of.

Seems to me, that the Faith Movement is way over the top.

Maybe Jesus was talking about our realationship with Him, instead of our healing.

Yesssssssssssss..................I know that verse,

"By His Stripes we are Healed"...............

But, if people have faith, and it does not work, hmmmmmmmmm.

The elders of my Church stood over him in prayer every day of his life.

I believe their faith was very strong.

But..............it seems it did not heal him.

Do you believe in the faith movement?

I'd like to know your view. :noidea:

Hi Yomo,

I think you are meaning what I know of as the word of faith movement. I believe their doctrine is in error. The phrase by His stripes we are healed is from Isaiah.

But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was on Him; and with His stripes we ourselves are healed.

Please note the context is refering to our sins.

Yomo, sometimes it is Gods will someone we care about dies. Remember the sparrows. Not one of them falls without the will of the Father. That young man you refer to is much loved and will be much missed Im sure. For reasons we wont understand here, it is His will to call him home.

Getting back to the word of faith movement. Their doctrine may be off base, but the Lord is still real and Jesus is still the only way. Perhaps it is time for you to grow and understand more of what our beliefs mean. Perhaps it is time for you to grow beyond the milk stage of understanding the Lord and to chew on the meat a bit. (The reference is from Hebrews.)

God bless

I read somewhere in one of the posts that often we as christians take our requests to the alter and expect God to bless it. This really spoke to me. I am guilty of doing that very thing.

If we take a quick look at our relationship with our parents, there are many times when the answer is either yes/no/wait/not now. My parents were in full control of circumstances that I had no insight into - I didn't always understand or agree with their answer. In this earthly relationship with my parents, the key to getting a response was to ask before getting an answer.

As christians we often tend to expect God to do as we say. This is not the kind of faith that God appreciates. If we went to our parents with a wrong attitude, we would not get a warm reception there either. However, just like our parents, God will do what he knows is right under the circumstances. Jesus taught his disciples how to pray in Matthew 6. He also teaches in this chapter to seek.

Bless you in Jesus Precious Name

No, I don't think that WE can heal people by praying for them and having faith. That would mean God answers to us.

I think God has every right to say "no" if he has something else planned. How can we possibly know what His reasons are for letting a person die, or even letting them be sick.

Often we can see later why bad things had to happen the way they did. Sometimes God doesn't reveal the reasons to us. I see no reason why we should lose faith over that.

Also, sometimes we forget that from God's perspective, to die in faith is the greatest blessing we can receive.

Ayin Jade, Those who are indwellt with HOLY SPIRIT, will never, never, die one second before, or one second after there apponinted time.

The "faith" movement is in arears. Give a buck, get a hundred. This horrific doctrine has commercialized YHSHWH-GOD.

Ever hear them say" the curses of "God" are upon you if you do not give your money?

Matt23:Verse 14:

"WOE UNTO YOU, SCRIBES AND PHARISEES, HYPOCRITES! For you DEVOUR WIDOWS' HOUSES..."!!!

(4), "For they bind HEAVY BURDENS and GRIEVOUS to be born, and lay them on men's [AND WIDOW'S] shoulders; but THEY themselves will NOT move them with one of their fingers."

That is correct. They live in million dollar mansions, have private jets, maids, live at the finest hotels money can buy, and thay give not one penny.

The tithe has been introduced to the Body of Christ using 2 tactics of the enemy.

1) Sowing guilt and shame into the Body of Christ by quoting Malachi 3:8 "Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, `How do we rob you?' In tithes and offerings." What devoted Christian wants to rob God? And, are we under the law? IE; Malachi.

The net effect of sowing guilt has been to extort money from the Body of Christ, thereby robbing the Body of the joy and blessing of giving as God leads. The practice ignores Paul

I believe in faith. I like to think of faith the way Daniel'f friends did when they were going to be thrown into the furnace. They basically said that God was able to deliver them. But they also said that even if God did not deliver them, He was still God. They had faith in the character of God to always do the right thing. They had faith in God's character that looked past circumstances

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
