?  I don't know how to apply that term. nor why you choose to

Crowns symbolise sovereignty, of which there are levels.

Rev 9:11  And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

''and their faces were as the faces of men.''    indicates their capacity  to love,to care ,to be concerned

Sorry, I can't agree with you on your statement.  With that said, I'll let everyone read the passages for themselves.

Revelation 9:1-11 (NIV)

The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. 2 When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss.

3 And out of the smoke locusts came down on the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth. 4 They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.

5 They were not allowed to kill them but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes. 6 During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.

7 The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces. 8 Their hair was like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth.

9 They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle. 10 They had tails with stingers, like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months.

11 They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer).

a royal appearance

Sovereignty is signaled by royal appearance. The Book of Revelation has been described as a rich heraldry of endtimes events. These days the terms "optics" and "public relations" are used.

The Book of Revelation is rich with symbolic and vivid imagery, often using phrases like "resembling" or "being like unto" to describe visions of the divine, the apocalyptic, and the otherworldly. Here are a few notable examples where this kind of descriptive language is used:

  1. Revelation 4:6-7 - The description of the four living creatures:

    • "And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle."

  2. Revelation 9:7-8 - The locusts from the abyss:

    • "And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions."

  3. Revelation 1:14-15 - The description of Christ in glory:

    • "His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; and his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters."

Not that it matters, but I support Michael's assessment with the descriptive symbology. Animal symbology is used throughout the Bible as descriptives for appearance, character, or attributes to make it understandable throughout the ages. Ancient Hebrew and Greek had no words or modern vocabulary to describe the spiritual or advanced end-time technologies. Ezekiel's chapter one is a good example. Thus, verbs "like" and "were as" are comparative descriptions denoting something to pay attention to.

As an example, using only what they had available to communicate (animals-nature-creation), try to describe the picture below. Apply the same to modern weapons of war, armor, battle dress, drones, missiles, supersonic jet fighters, etc.

Revelation 4:7 (KJV) And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.

Another example is the symbolic representative metaphoric use of words. A fierce lion represents the wild animal kingdom, the king of beasts. A calf represents the domesticated animal kingdom. The face of a man is self-explanatory. Notice the flying eagle (fowl); other unclean birds, like a stork, could have been used. The eagle is majestic, powerful, and incredibly swift. It is representative of the fowls of the earth. In this context, saving a remnant of Israel denotes speed and swiftness.

I suspect the above (and Eze. 1) symbolizes the Beasts (Cherubim-Watchers) watching over creation and transporters of God's throne when He desires. If these thoughts are accurate, what about the serpents, fish, reptiles, and cold-blooded animals? That would raise some additional interesting theological questions.

With good arguments, some suggest that Rev. 4:7 may be associated with the four gospels.

This picture brings back a bunch of old memories of yesteryear.

The 5th trumpet locusts rose from the abyss years ago, 1929.

They are associated with the beast which is Rome.

They are false prophets, Rev 9:10, Isa 9:15. (Also see Rev 9:19 as false prophets.)

There is a teaching among some modern Christian preachers that the locusts that John the Baptist ate with wild honey in the wilderness were not bugs, bug a plant pod called 'carob bean.'

While the greek word for locust: ἀκρίς (akris), occurs four times in the NT: plural in Matthew 3:4, Mark 1:6, and Rev. 9:3, and 9:7, there is no corresponding Greek word/s for 'carob bean pods.'

So, are these preachers right: was John eating something other than crunchy bugs with his wild honey?

The point of John's eating "wild beans" or locusts is this, John was living outside the Roman and delinquent Jewish system. John wouldn't need the money when God provided his needs.

It allowed John to be as sinless as possible.

the beast is government . its the one that put the locust into the pit in the first place . because they had gotten out as they did indicates there was involvement from higher  sources.

not sure how ya came up with 1929

Why do you think the locusts were beans and not bugs?  The same word for locusts Matthew is used in Revelation re: John's vision of locusts coming out of the smoke.  Regardless of the symbolism in Revelation, locusts in Rev. 9 refers to the bug.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
