I did a word study on "name" awhile back and I came to the conclusion that it means mostly, Character. So if we believe in the name of Jesus (which carries a connotation of walk in Jesus's ways) then we begin taking on the very character of Jesus.

Oh wow, do you have more details about this? I was told his name was that he died to take the penalty for our sins (if this is even correct, still figuring things out), that he raised himself from the dead, and that he is the Son of God, and so forth.

Yes He died to take the penalty for our sins and that's what His name stands for (also), but that He did that for us is indicative of His character. I have some details on it somewhere but it's way too early yet for me, lol.

Just do a word study on "Name" and every time it is used in scripture.  Use a concordance or an online one like BlueLetterBible.org and look every one up in scripture, and you will see these things and that it is true.

He has so many names though! Had you realized that Genesis 1:1 has the Lord's name in it?! So Jesus didnt come later, He is wisdom and He is the Beginning!

(sounds of many people reaching for their bibles...!) It's there. I can post more details about that once I've had more coffee and shook out the cobwebs some, lol.

so many say they are saved ,want to be saved. yet dont know what it is they are to be saved from. some have said they are saved from sin ,yet they keep on sinning as if it wont be charged against them.

right now we all have the probability of dying. death is going to get you ,one way or another.

to be saved from death either by resurrection or by living on into the Kingdom millennial reign. is the grand salvation plan.

Does someone just need to believe in Jesus to be saved according to John 3? I get caught up on what it says in John 3:18 because I don't have a great understanding of what his name is.

Wouldn't people who knew Jesus in person "believe" in him no matter what because they knew he existed? I don't understand how belief in him would equate to salvation, I'm not questioning it, I just don't understand it.

Fair question.

In the original language the word believe or belief carries a connotation of action with it. So it is more than mere knowledge, but a walking in it. .

Belief isnt, I met the guy once and never saw him again after that.

Belief is, When I met him we became friends and hang out together now! I talk to Him a lot because he is so easy to talk to and is very friendly, we might be becoming best friends!

So if you had a spiritual encounter with the Lord and got saved 15 years ago...(PTL), but dont tell me what happened then, tell me what happened yesterday between you two?! Do you realize that most people who call themselves Christians have an encounter and so get born again and baptized or whatever and then they go home and sit on their blessed assurance that they are saved, but they dont read His word or talk much about Him (on their own). Do they really know Him? Or did they meet Him one time and never contacted Him again?!

Then a different Christian meets Him and gets born again and realizes the profound implications of who the man is and what all He will and does for us. So that guy thinks, I want to be better friends with Him and be closer to Him. He doesnt know how to do that so he does what he knows to do, read His Bible and talk with the Lord a lot. Eventually the Lord takes notice of this and thinks, hey this man is serious about drawing closer to me, Hmm, I will draw closer to him and do good things for him...

I think that the first type of Christian is the type which Jesus calls a "Lukewarm" Christian and He says He will spew them from His mouth. Some of them might be saved I think? But spew them from His mouth sounds ominous to me.

We are instructed to study to show ourselves approved, so do it.

The 2nd type of Christian talks to the Lord all the time almost, even about little things in his life and just pours his heart out to the Lord, as his best friend. Jesus is on his lips when he speaks, Praise the Lord! want to hear what the Lord did for me yesterday? And the Lord becomes his Life! So since this man does more for the Lord and obeys what he does know, the Lord will do good things for him and even give the man a better place in heaven than someone who repented on their death bed and did no work for the Lord.

So if you'd like a good station in life in heaven, you have to develop a good relationship with Him. So one guy may get a Mansion to live in and a good easy job to do, and the other may live in a shack on the edge of town and be in a lower job in heaven...

I returned to the Lord in 2009, 16 years ago. Want to hear what the Lord did for me yesterday?! He did two miraculous things for me yesterday. You might not see them as miraculous, but I know it was the Lord.

You see, the Lord dont really do Parting the Red Sea type of big miracles for individual people, but for big crowds of people so He will get more conversions out of the miracles than if He had parted the Red Sea for one man!

We are saved be grace through Faith and the salvation is a free gift but then, you've met the Lord so you to work for Him and do your best to help Him! Did you not join the Service of the Lord when you became a child of God? That's where works come into play. The more good that you do for His people and help them, the more rewards you receive both here and in heaven.

Does that help?

Hi! :)

Romans 10:17

King James Version

17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

the Word of God of is a sword.

Hebrews 4:12

King James Version

12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

I was 14 when I first opened the pages and  was convicted in spirit .. I believed and confessed and was saved

God bless you also

I can't figure this out for the life of me. Could someone in their own words please explain to me what someone must believe in order to be saved along with the appropriate verses from the Bible? Thank you so much.

He said in the OT&NT anyone that calls on the name of the lord shall be saved. Its not what any believe tells you "Gods word really says". Read John 3:16 and Romans 10:9-10. Its that simple. That desire this question where do you think it came from? Him.. just believe. Then we find a word church one that believes all of His word.

Its not just some choice.. Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].

The word believe or belief in the original language has a definite connotation of an action which accompanies your faith.

James 1:22

22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves..../KJV

many people have heard the word of God when they read their bible, but they dont apply it to their life through their actions. They think they are saved but if someone was serious then it would be readily apparent in their life.  So they have deceived themselves and are not being led by the spirit.

A real Christian will believe that every word of scripture is true and make their decisions for life with that in mind. Scripture says to read it every day.

Scripture says, you don't need no doctor, the Lord will heal you. Scripture says do not commit fornication, so boot the girl out who is living with you because you are married. Scripture says don't steal, so stop it and be in obedience to God. Scripture says be led by the Spirit moment by moment every day, to abide in Him...

I could go on forever almost, lol. Does any of that sound familiar? You can not live in willful sin and profess to be born again. Repent from those sins and stop it. For no other reason that you want your actions in the flesh to be in obedience to the Lord in everything the scripture teaches us to do. There's a lot more than 10 commandments let me tell you! But if you do these things and have faith (trust) your Lord then you would want to put it into action day by day in your life. But on the plus side is the fact that scripture says that the Lord rewards obedience both in this world and in the world to come. Those come in the form of blessings and miracles. When you draw near to the Lord in obedience He draws near to you.

It's almost like, if someone goes to a job interview and did get hired. but then they didn't show up on their first day...are they even serious about serving there? But if someone else does show up for their first day and pays attention and works real hard to get a lot accomplished...the bosses go, Hmm he's going to work out nice for us, lets promote him...I did that one time, I got hired at a heat & air company for 7.? something like that and that was my first heat & air job so I didnt know anything! I figured, I am no lead man so I have to be an awesome helper to the lead tech. Pay attention to what he's doing, I'm watching him so I already know the tool he will ask for next...(!!) and after that first week, he must've spoke nice about me cuz the boss man pulled me aside and said, it's not $7, it will be $8 an hour because  you did good. (Yay!)

That's the difference between being a hearer of the word and a doer of the word. Be a doer! You have faith, so add some actions to it and you have belief, and that's when good things happen.

Scripture says that when Jesus went back to Nazareth that He could not perform many miracles there, because of their unbelief. But they had faith I'm sure. But no actions, hey come heal her, nothing. Believe on the Lord Jesus and thou shalt be saved.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
