She was raised Catholic but hasn't really practiced it for a long time.

Most Catholics are only going by rituals.  They go to mass because they think Christ is being sacrificed in each mass....and they must consume the wafer as the body of Christ.

So you can explain to her that doing those things doesn't save you.    Have a few Scriptures to show her where Jesus talks about believing on Him to be saved.

Perhaps she is searching since she likes to party and sometimes uses drugs.... perhaps trying to fill a void in herself.    You can explain that faith in Jesus Christ does fill that void.

This is something I know well from personal experience @irishbeast

I was not a believer when a Christian man asked me out to bible study on a date. During those couple of hours, he figured out that although I believed in God (a sort of generic god), I did not believe in Jesus and was not saved.

He told me  what the bible said about being unequally yoked and promptly dumped me.

Ug

I got saved that night. Not because I wanted to see him again (he was about to see about being a missionary with wycliff), but because I humbly approached the Lord and asked Him if He wanted me to believe in Jesus. After that whirlwind change in me, it was clear I was now saved.

I worked with that guy in a hospital so I saw him again. A couple of months later, after speaking to church members about me, he decided that as a believer, I was "safe" to date.

He is now eating an apple, in my home, married for (gotta do math) 35 yrs this july.

That was an AWESOME story - thanks for sharing!  It shows the wonderful impact of your husband's one, faithful act (in dumping you promptly)!

Hi IrishBeast .....

Love for the Lord is/should be paramount in your walk.  Not being able to share that with a non-believer who will not have the same interest, passion for the Lord, will leave a big hole in your life.   Be careful how you proceed.  Never be alone with her, double date with other Christians, take her to church, christian events, etc.  Be wise and loyal to your Lord.

@irishbeast  @ayin jade I know a brother who actually married an unbeliever. She is a really nice lady who supports him in many of his Christian endeavors.  She has something of a belief in God, but doesn't see the need for personal redemption in Christ.  She even prays with him on various matters and listens to him as he shares testimonies of his faith.  They have had a good, loving relationship for many years.

He says his bottom-line testimony in all of this is, "I married an unbeliever, but God has most graciously blessed us."

Nonetheless, I know he doesn't recommend it, and it causes him some angst.  While they share many things and activities in common, and she even likes many of his church friends, she doesn't participate in his pursuit of the Lord.  And while it is a comfort to him, knowing that scripture says she is sanctified by her believing husband (1 Cor 7:14), it is also something of a sorrow/burden to him, as her eternal outlook is obviously quite concerning.

So while God has been most gracious to him, and he truly loves his wife, I know he would not recommend it to others.

She knows that I am serious about my faith and church life but isn't bothered at all, seems an unlikely match up in some wats but in other ways it feels strangely right.

The Spirit is saying 'NO!', and your flesh is saying 'YES!'.

Follow the Spirit and strengthen your faith.  Don't give in to your flesh, for you will grieve the Spirit that renewed you.

May God bless you and keep you...  in Jesus's name. Amen amen.

@Daniel whalen Thanks for the 'like'; some of us have experience by God's grace of gauging if a person is one with whom it might be possible to walk in harmony or not, as the case may be.

The underlying principle is there also in John's First Epistle by way of walking in the light and thus having fellowship with others also who do likewise (chapter 1).

doesn't that pertain to two already married and one comes to The Lord and the other doesn't?

Do you think it doesn't apply?  I'd not heard of that perspective before . . .

Well, the investigative issue lies in disobedience of the already saved verses one coming to belief in an already disobedient life style... if the saved marry outside of Biblical boundaries do you think the Lord would bless that?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
