Reminders Definitions - Veil

Moses was instructed by God to build a tabernacle, or mobile home, where God would make His presence known among His people. This earthly, holy place of God was used until about 1000 BC when Solomon built a tabernacle of stone on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem. This temple was a center of worship for approximately 400 years until it was destroyed by the Babylonians, then rebuilt by Zerubbabel 70 years later. Called the ‘Second Temple’ it was expanded and upgraded by Herod the Great in the first century BC and stood until it was destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD. Now the Temple Mount awaits the throne of a third temple, from which Jesus will rule as King of kings during the millennium.  A most interesting feature of these earthly dwellings of God was the veil, a massive curtain that separated man from God’s holy place. The temple veil was 30 feet tall, 30 feet wide, and 4 inches thick. Only the Levitical High Priest was allowed to pass through this veil into God’s presence once a year on the Day of Atonement. He brought the blood of an animal sacrifice as proof that the payment of death for the sins of the people had been made.

A remarkable incident occurred in the temple when Jesus died on the cross. “The veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom.” Mark 15:38 That veil symbolized three things: 1) Sin. The barrier between sinful man and a Holy God was the sin of Adam. Jesus was made to be sin for all men, and sin died on the cross. By that death, “God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them.”  2 Corinthians 5:17 The barrier was torn in two, now giving man direct access to God. 2) The veil was a type of the body of Jesus. Jesus’ body was ‘torn’ and His blood shed. He became the “once for all” sacrifice, making full payment for all sin and sins. Hebrews 10:10 3) There were not multiple ways into God’s presence. The veil was the only way, just as the resurrected Lord Jesus is the only way. False teachers and religions claim there are many ways that lead to God. Jesus says otherwise, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes unto the Father but by me. John 14:6 God ordained Jesus as the only way and showed that salvation was from above by tearing the veil in half from top to bottom. Man’s attempt to obtain salvation through any other means would leave the veil intact, God hidden, and man forever lost.

Final Thoughts: There is no better time than now to believe the Gospel. “Behold, now is the accepted time, behold, now is the day of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6:2 But what does all this mean for Christians who have already put their faith and trust in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus for eternal life? We are to believe it, trust it, and obey it. “Having therefore brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus. By a new and living way which he has consecrated for us through the veil, which is to say his flesh; And having a high priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for He is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more, as you see the day approaching.” Hebrews 10:19-25    ph

How sweet is the pure gospel in all its simplicity. Well done!

The veil in the temple that was rent was the one to the most holy place, aka the holy of holies.  By this it signified that upon the death of the perfect Lamb of God, man was given full access to God in his spirit.

It indicated the cancelling of any specific spot where fellowship with God occurs.

And this connects to the final priestly function. The types pass away to make way for the Reality.

this is fundamental to God’s purpose and reason mentioned earlier.

2 Corinthians 3:15  But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. :16  Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. :17  Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. :18  But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

And now, the veil that was upon our hearts has been done away and we have instant access to the throne of grace by the shed blood of Jesus and are encouraged to come boldly into His presence. We now being the temple of God. Let us hold fast this profession of our faith and encourage one another as we do here and so much the more as we see the day approaching.

True. But I'll go with your first statement, or, your previous post. The Tabernacle in heaven is very prominent in Revelation - which has not been fulfilled yet.. The curtain, or "Veil" might be rent, but the Altar of Incense is still in place. We are still to enter in the name of Jesus and we are still to pray in His Name. It is true that we can connect with Jehovah anywhere, anytime, but that is because the human spirit is mobile.

God is still a holy God and we created beings are still profane. It is still fully up to Jesus whether we get access to God or not. This is no better shown in our preparation for the Lord's Table. Judge your self (the altar). Deal with dirt (the Laver). Let His light reveal our real position (the Lampstand). Eat His word (the shewbread altar) and let Jesus be your incense (the golden altar). This whole House is His Body. This whole House is your body. Come defiled and you get sick and even die.

I probably sound pedantic, but the oil of anointing never touches Aaron' flesh (Ps.133)

Do you or anyone know what the purpose of the incense is (was?).

I've always wondered that and the best I can come up with is that sin has a stench to it and so the incense covers the stench of sin so God don't have to hold His breath around us?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
