My letter to Edward Liddy of Allstate

I'm sure most of you are aware by now of the case of Matt Barber, the Allstate agent who was fired for expressing his views IN HIS OFF TIME about homosexuality. I recently sat down and wrote him an e-mail and here it is for public viewing:

Growing up the son an insurance salesman, I remember the phrase (and still hear it often on TV) "You're in good hands with Allstate." Now I am led to believe that must, of necessity, be a falsehood. When a company stoops to firing one of it's own because of their belief in a lifestyle CHOICE being wrong, a belief that many Americans hold I might remind you, I wonder what kind of hands am I truly in? We are each and every one guaranteed the right to free speech, a right you have denied Mr. Barber in terminating him. Recently I had my car insurance switched from one company to another and I can assure you, your company never came into consideration because of this atrocity! I will be forwarding this issue on to friends and relatives as well as posting this letter I'm writing to you on my blog.

Good for you. I dumped them a few months ago, turning in a similar letter. My former agent asked for it but didn't even look at it. Did you know they are now saying Mr. Barber was fired for using company resources for that column? Flies right in the face of prior given information.

This the the same company that dropped thousands of homeowner's insurance policies prior to the hurricanes hitting Florida last year. Yea, your in good hands all right.

we use to say this as kids, funny how something that is about 40 years old is so true.....

but then again, look at all the insurance companies.... so big they really do not care....

one agent I was speaking with, said he liked auto accidents.... I asked why, he said cause each accident allows us to raise the premium a little bit for every ones policy, and a lot of them we do not even have to pay on......

sounds like a legalized scam to me... who in the legislative branch got the kick backs from the insurance companies..

non-smokers have better then smokers ( smokers equal higher risk )

non- teens get better rates then teens....

do heteralsexuals get better rates then homosexuals? being homosexuals are higher risk?

I have no use for State Farm either, btw! I don't know where they stand on these type of issues but when one of their clients rammed me about 12 or 13 years ago, they drug their feet on wanting to pay anything. It was the worst possible experience I've ever had in that sort of thing!
