You keep telling us we can access this 'power' from the holy ghost, but you cannot remember how you got it, nor tell me how I can receive it. According to scripture, the word of God.

Simply tell me in your own words, then,  backed up with scripture, what I must actually do to receive the 'filling/power' that you continue to say I need.

Do I have to get re-baptized in some special way? Surely you can tell us about when a new seeker comes to your church to receive this baptism/power/filling how it happens, James. Thanks, Sower...

I have told you how to get Him from the scripture - multiple times. Just ask and believe! I got saved at the same time, I don't remember that experience, yet I know I am save.... I may not remember the initial infilling of the Holy Spirit - but I know I am, and I have experienced Acts 2 many times in my life!

Prayer and the earnest pursuit of the Scriptures are a true blessing.

(Luke 11:11 [KJV])
If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?

(Luke 11:12 [KJV])
Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?

(Luke 11:13 [KJV])
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

You said;  "I have told you how to get Him from the scripture - multiple times"

Yes, you have replied many times, thanks, but didn't answer my specific question. Big difference. It causes me to wonder why. How does it happen in the Pentecostal church. Specifically, what happens. You did not answer this so I got online and typed in "how to receive the filling/baptism/power of the holy ghost in a Pentecostal church?"

What I viewed was a what I would classify as emotional chaos, mostly. Decided not to post the videos. Anyone can google them. I believe that to be filled with the holy spirit there has to be less 'self', for room for the filling of the spirit. Not some special 'touch/push/holler/scream' from the pastor, a band and drums pounding, every body jumping and falling down, to initiate this filling.  Had hoped you could explain this, but I see why you didn't.....default_cool2-Copy.gif.d4852ffd12709c95f6b0aff78887b9b2.gif

"For God is not the author of confusion!"....1 Corinthians 14:33

Thanks again, James. (I got my answer)

You can't go by what you read on line; that can create confusion - Being filled with the Holy Spirit has NOTHING to do with jumping or chaos, or screaming. I feel like that was the kind of answer you were looking for. Being filled with the Holy Spirit, like salvation has nothing to do with feelings at all; even tho many report having them.

You got it with the last line you said! It is a matter of faith! Being filled with the Holy Spirit IS power - but you don't need to FEEL that power, just know you have them!

I hesitate to mention this, because this will cause a whole new set of arguments... (and I don't want to get into it here - start a new topic if you wish to talk about it) But if you are truly interested is being filled with the Holy Spirit, you need to know this.

The very first, and powerful, manifestation of being filled with the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues. The heavenly language that allows your spirit to speak directly to God through His Spirit with out your brain getting in the way. You are speaking the mysteries of God  , and building your own faith.

This happens while Peter was yet speaking. The Holy Spirit fell on unbaptized  uncircumcised Romans and other nations people who were gathered in Cornelius house.

There were new believers and Peter did not say anything about the Holy Spirit. They did not ask.

Jesus Christ did it on his own and He must have plans for them. Evangelist, Disciples, Apostles, Prophets is  from acts 10:44 and Peter and some of the deacons were with him. And they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God.

Acts 10:44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. 45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles. 46 For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God.

True, now we know that the Bible does not record everything said and/or done; we also know from scripture the faith comes from hearing the Word of God; we also know that God is moved by faith.

Put that all together; and I strongly believe that Peter must have been speaking about the infilling of the Holy Spirit somewhere in his message, it built an atmosphere of faith - and it was through there faith in the infilling of the Holy Spirit that He came upon them.

In Acts ten we have Peter's words, from the time he enter the house of Cornelius till the time when Jesus baptized them with the Holy Spirit and till that time Peter had said nothing about the Holy Spirit.

Peter's words are written down and there is nothing in them to Justified your wishful thinking that Jesus needed the words of Peter for faith to be built in the people if not Jesus could not baptized them with the Holy Spirit. Peter said they were baptized by the same Spirit as we were baptized on the day of Pentecost.

They were unbaptized and they had only believed and Jesus did something of his own to teach Peter and everyone a lesson.

That Jesus can baptized believers with the Holy Goast who are not baptized in water.

Nothing can stopped him or the water or the water baptism cannot stopped him. To require someone to be water baptized first before he seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit is not correct.

Paul was teaching the same thing and he did not baptized people with water.

To believe in Jesus Christ that's the only prerequisite for the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

I understand, what you are saying; but again for all we know he could have been talking with them (and probably was) for hours, the Bible only records portions of what is said.

This can not be properly discussed, because we were not there. So to quote another preacher..... I can't prove I am right, you can't prove I am wrong, so I choose to believe what I believe.

This I do know.... that Holy Spirit will not fill someone who does not want Him, nor believe in Him. They have to want Him, and in order to want Him you MUST have heard about Him from somewhere, Pete most likely talked about Him, but even if he didn't Cornelius had to have heard about the Holy Spirit from somewhere, and desired Him!

@LastDaysJames

It's obvious that you are quided by this belief and it sounds that you are defending what you believe or WHAT YOUR TEACHERS TAUGHT YOU and you choose to honor them by defending what they teach.

Anyone who does not have this bias in him and does a stait forwards  reading of the passage he will tell you that Peter when he started talking to the crowd in the house he SAID I STILL DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU WANT FROM ME and he started speaking to them about the events in Jerusalem and when he said:

Acts 42-45      it's about Jesus telling the disciples how to preach the Gospel to all people.

42 He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead.

43 All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”

44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message.

45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
