Okay say someone "of course not me"   had this history n dillema - what spiritual advice would you give?

History -   baptized Catholic as an infant - was "Christian" growing up but never went to church as parents really wernt Into then.  Went to college meet a Mormon girl.   Shes really sweet and I loved her but never really was to Into tbe Mormon church but I joined got married and we were married a decade kids and everything.   As far as church was concerned I did the minimum and just said what I had to say yada yada as I loved my family.   But after a while got divorced.     Then I was like kid in an adult candy store for quite a while doing all sorts of stuff I shouldn't no matter what Christian denomination you follow.    Then one night being stoned outta mind like alot of nights then I saw the Chosen an tbe end of that first episode hit me like a thunderbolt I was in tears .   That started a the xhsnge in my life towards being a Christian rather thsn saying I am.  Started reading 1/2 chapter to several a night and praying real prayers not just saying words.    To listening to Klove exclusively in car (kids wernt a fan of that move) .   Im still.a sinner I know it but I also know I changed alot.

Now the dillema,   which church to join.   I been going to 3 kind of in rotation one is Road to Life (they made a movie about it ) a non denominational church with a pastor who's like a rough neck Steven Furtick - hes pretty good.  A pentecostal church (which i thought was non denominational at first)  I get the best vibes from and am going on a Israel trip with in October (unless things are crazy there or the crazy has been elevated  it seems always a little wild west there),  and even a Mormon church as ....... a just in case option.   Been doung this for a year and everytime I try to just pick one and go I find my self going down rabbit holes of doom in my mind.   Then I think we'll I will just continue doing it " by myself "    and just be 1 foot in 1 out n just keep going but never join.    However I think im missing out on alot doing that n it doesn't really help tbe "roots".

Yes I know pray and I have alot.  Either God wants me to figure it out myself or Im just blind / stubborn and can't see the answers hes giving me....... Likely the latter sadly.

Any advise/suggestions?

Hi @streeter

Seek first God's Kingdom and His Righteousness, and the answers you need will come in accordance with His Will, Plan , and Purpose for your life. Don't focus on your needs above and beyond the serious study of God's Word, but make it your priority to appreciate all the blessing God gives us, even when we are still in sin and darkness.

Mormonism is a tragic cult so please seek to be free of any ties to it.

Mormonism is radically different from true Christianity. Don't go that way.

But otherwise this issue is similar to any other kind of guidance. Often we're faced with two or more good options. There may be many churches in your area offering solid Bible teaching and good fellowship (both of which you need, especially early in your Christian walk). So which do you choose? God may not mind which you go to. So if you don't sense any specific guidance, start by committing yourself to the one that's easiest to get to, and give it at least 6 months trial.

I understand Mormons belie e some strange things.    I was in tbe church for over 10 years while married I have alot of experience and know much about how it operates.    I can say yes there are some weird stuff that .makes you cringe a little.   Much of what is said about them tho just isn't true.

Perhaps the principle of leaven should be considered in this context…”a little leaven, leavens the whole lump”.

I would add a consideration for the foundation upon what the house of Mormon was built.

Well I reeeeally didn't want this  about the Mormons.   I will just say this.   In regards to your levean comment you can apply that to almost anything and make it look shaded if you wanted to.    I was in that church for maybe 12 years - had a recommend, married in temple , had a leadership position (no idea how ) , then works so I know alot about them.     My issue was I never really bought into J. Smith , the BOM, and the Pearl of great Price was just strange- so I had few issues lol   ...... however they follow the commandments , they definitely love Christ , and strive to show kindness and patience.   Maybe they really aren't "Christians"  I really dont know but they seem to do a good job behaving like it.   Maybe Im just not versed enough to figure out they aren't I don't know.

For me right now for me Im leaning towards the Pentecostal church I just seem to feel more at-home there.   Any red flags with Pentecostsls I should consider?

which church to join.

May I suggest a couple of options.

1/ check out the Christianityexplored web site for churches in your area. Then after looking at them on line try visiting them.

2/ make a list of pros and cons for each church. Nearness to home, friendlyness, preaching is it systematic or just an endless appeals, involvement in evangelism and missionaries, ask minister how accountable the church is on finance and on legal issues.

From this list is there any church that stands out.

Ask each church leader why you should join that church.

From the answers etc pray about which church you should join.

Hard to answer a thats asking to explain something I never said.

Honestly I go every so often as its familiar and I know people there to say hi.    I get the best feeling at the other 2 but thats maybe because they sing the current songs and have great engaging pastors .    Mormon church just has random members give talks and sing 200 year old songs won't judge but imo it makes it pretty boring .     The other 2 are more fun, engaging, "alive".

Stay there for while and see how it goes. Try to go to an after church get together and get to know folks.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
