Has anyone here read any of the 5 Love Languages series? I'm reading the one about husbands/wives and am really enjoying it. Jus wondering about other peoples experiences reading it and or putting it into practice?

Thanks :)

Excellent book! I didn't know there was a series.

I bought this book for my daughter in-law for her bridal shower.

I read the original book 2 or 3 times. I loved it. I let some one borrow it, and they never returned it. I need to buy it again.

I haven't read the book, but some of my kids have. They started analyzing me and made a decision concerning what they thought my love language was, but they were wrong. They thought because I wanted them to help me with the meal preparation when they came for dinner every Sunday (4 adult children, 3 spouses, a fiance and 3 grandchilren) and with the clean-up afterwards that my love language was wanting people to "do" things for me. They talked about whether I would prefer to have someone say "I love you" or to help me with the dishes, but to me, helping me with the dishes says "I love you," not because "doing" is my love language, but because that shows respect, because it does not put all the work on me, and because it allows me time then to enjoy the company of my family.

God's love language is obedience, but it can also be doing, and it can be listening, and respect, etc., but basically what it boils down to is real love is action, not just words. You show someone you love them by being involved in their lives and caring about their needs, whatever they are. When we have meals, my need is to have help, because I don't just love cooking and cleaning. I have my kids over because I want to be with them, and if I am stuck in the kitchen while they are all in the living room fellowshiping, I get left out. So, what it really boils down to is that I want to be with them and talk with them and interact with them and I can't do that if I am stuck in the kitchen alone.

My mom used to "do" things for me, but she never said "I love you," and she didn't hug me and she didn't listen to me, so even though I am sure she loved me in her own way, I did not feel loved by her. So, "doing" is not my love language. But, if someone says "I love you" but then eats at my house every week and never offers to help with anything, I don't feel very loved, either. I feel taken advantage of. So, that comes down to respect. I want to be valued. I want someone to invest time in my life that says "I care about you and your needs." I want someone to ask me how my day is going instead of me having to ask them all the time. I want someone to listen to me and to care about what is important to me even if I don't express it perfectly and I stumble over my words and I repeat myself, which I do.

And, God feels the same way about us. He wants us to want to be with him and to ask him what is on his mind and to see how we can please him and to show him how very much we value him instead of just coming to him with a list of wants. Some of my kids only call me when they want something, and that hurts. It hurts God when all we do is ask for stuff, too. So, I guess my love language is the same as God's. He wants an intimate relationship with us, and intimacy is my love language, too. And, I don't want to be catagorized by some love language thing that does not understand who I am at all.

No, I've never read them, but I've heard of them. Maybe I'll read them someday.

Sounds like a good read. Though I know what language we will speak in Heaven. That language will be FRENCH. Why French you say? Well G-d is love. And French is the language of love. So if G-d is love, and French the language of love. In Heaven we will speak the language of love. Bon Jour!!!

I haven't read the book either, but I have heard good things about it and plan on checking it out!! I did take the online test and found that words of affirmation was high on my list...I think I agree with that. However, I agree with what Christ's Free Servant posted. Love is an action! :P

Now, can someone tell me how to change my font? I tried clicking on font and size and it just put it in parentheses??????????

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
