As far as the United States goes, when the founding fathers discussed religion they were talking about Christianity.  The differences they were wanting to allow was denominations within the realms of Christianity.  Any time a "religion" other than Christianity was referred to it was called a false religion.

We would serve each other well to read the writings of these men(even the deist Jefferson), rather than rely on some politically correct liberal's interpretation of their words.

Is this true:

First, a few quotes from America's founding Fathers:

"The United States is in no sense founded upon Christian docrtrine" G. Washington

"I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature" . Thomas Jefferson

"It does me not injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or not god. Neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." Thomas Jefferson

"The bible is not my book, and Christianity is not my religion" A. Lincoln

"I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any other church that I know of. My own mind is my own church." Thomas Paine

Quotes as listed in Salvation for Sale, by Gerard Thomas

Second, a few about religion and the US government.

"The principal framers of the American political system wanted no religious parties in national politics. They crafted a constitutional order that intended to make a person's religious convictions, or his lack of religious convictions, irrelevant in judging the value of his political opinion or in assessing his qualifications to hold politicaloffice." Isaac Kramnick and R. Laurence Moore, The Godless Constitution: The Case Against Religious Correctness (New York: W.W. Norton, 1996), p. 23.

"So succesful were the drafters of the Constitution in defining government in secular terms that one of the most powerful criticisms of the Constitution when ratified and for succeeding decades was that it was indifferent to Christianity and God. It was denounced by many as a godless document, which is precisely what it is." Isaac Kramnick and R. Laurence Moore, The Godless Constitution: The Case Against Religious Correctness (New York: W.W. Norton, 1996), p. 23.

I think someone just fabricated those "quotes" ...I believe they are outright lies...period.

There's been a ton of documentation to the contrary and you are quoting a pagan website. Is it any wonder they come up with blatant lies...?

After all, most people will not challenge what they hear...they just assume if someone puts something in a quote, they must be telling the truth.

But people who are godless are ruled by their own dictates. They have no fear of God and have no grasp of the consequences of their actions.

They don't even blink at telling blatant lies.

No, the founding fathers were not heathens or non-Christians but wherever you find wheat, the weeds are sure to appear. They are sown by Satan and their purpose is to choke off the truth.

You can choose to turn to pagan websites and who knows what you'll hear...I wouldn't trust anything they supposedly "quote"...

People can always lie and fabricate...and in fact, they can tell a very big lie and people are more prone to believe a big lie than a small one. Go figure.

I prefer the truth...found in God's Word.

One more point:

The quotes of Jefferson are not given in context. Without the full context, you can't make a complete interpretation, (if, in fact...the quote is authentic)

The quote by Washington is garbage. Pure and simple. Washington was a totally committed Christian.

We live in an age of Tabloid - it's Jerry Springer everywhere you turn, (especially on the internet).

I was watching Dr. Phil, ( I really like that guy)...and he was talking about all the tabloid nonsense he hears about himself...

For example, he said one tabloid reported him and Oprah dancing all night long...

He laughed and said, "Oprah goes to bed at 8 o'clock every night. And if you saw me try to dance...you'd laugh."

He was amused at the lies and supposed "quotes" people claim he says.

He was accused of being mean to his staff. He asked his staff if he was mean to them...

One camera guy came out with fake bruises and a broken (fake) tooth...

Just to tease him...

People, don't believe everything you read or hear...and only half of what you see...

It's true, Cats. I liked what Berlusconi said to the reporters: "When I see something in the paper that actually resembles me, I will be calling to thank you".

I'd do a search on a Christian site..(and stay away from pagan ones)...

You might use Worthy Boards search engine as a start. Worthy Boards also gives a variety of links to other Christian sites.

Look, non-believers have their own agenda. If you aren't serving Christ, knowingly or unknowingly, you serve Satan.

Remember, there's an agenda. The more negative and shocking, the better it sells. Truth isn't important. Many people aren't interested in the truth. They feed on anything that tickles the ears.

Why do you think Jerry Springer and Jenny Jones does so well? Tabloid.

The agenda isn't truth. The agenda is ratings. Same on the web.

Also, remember the times in which we live. People are out for blood..period.

Ever see those "Judge" shows? People are out to make a buck anyway they can get it...if it means walking over the dead to get it, so be it.

A sign of the times...

Happy, consider this...

2 Tim 3:1 - 5

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient totheir parents, ungrateful, unholy, withouth love, unforgiveing, slanderous, withouth self-control, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God = having a form of godliness but denying it's power. Have nothing to do with them

Actually, I read a book, written by a christian author, who discovered that

George Washignton was first a free mason, but eventually became a christian.

This is out of topic, but...

If you look at a one dollar bill ( US currency ), you will find that there is a pyramid with an eye on it. This is the "all-seeing eye", which is found on the freemasons' apron.

God bless you all.

I believe that was added in the 1940's...the currency we have today wasn't the same design back in Washington's day...in fact, there was a variety of currencies circulating back in the days of our founding fathers.

Remember, there's was great division between the North and the South up until the mid 1800's. We also had confederate currencies, along with standard currencies of the Northern states. Even Texas was a republic - a separate entity until it finally was granted statehood.

I, for one, have seen numerous currencies circulated for the state for Florida during the early years...

I have no doubt our country has deteriorated during the past 100 years- and I'm sure the Masons have had their hand of influence in all aspects of our government...but back then...our nation was a godly nation.

God blessed us and what happened? We have continually gone downhill. The ingratitude of our people is mindboggling. We have been fed and tended by the Shepherd with loving and patient hands.

Remember, the many graces of our Lord flow from the godly devotion of our godly leaders. How sad..now that they are departed from this world, their memories are tarnished like reruns of Jerry Springer.

Yes, the puritans. The puritans were true christians, were they not? I do believe the US was founded on christianity, but, there might have been some

contraversy.

I think you mean "your" nation, I ain't from the US ( but I'm close to the border. I'm about 30-45 mintues from Niagara Falls. )

Anyways, God bless you sis.

PS: I don't doubt that some of the founding Fathers of the US were involved

somehow in Freemasonry.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
