This is spiritual warfare. Propoganda is to be expected. Look at how the liberals have tried to hijack the bible, with gender mix ups and such. Par for the course.

Trust me, the next one will be the film of the DaVinci code.

The book did enough damage as a lot of less than intelligent people read it and immediately thought it was true despite its absolutely preposterous claims and theories, but the medium of film is going to reach a far wider audience and have a much greater impact, meaning we're in for one enormous amount of Christian bashing in the near future.

Best to arm ourselves and get reading one of the several rebuttals Christian writers have done on it already so we can have the answers ready for the claims!!

but then the newsreader began a side issue about "how some are claimingthis film to be nothing more than Christian propaganda and a crude attempt to twist the writings of C.S Lewis for their own gain".

I personally take from this that the broadcaster was stating that other people are making these claims. Did he/she actually state that this was also his/her own opinion?

You have to be kidding...hijacking his books? The entire Narnia series is an allegory of the Bible, from creation to Revelation. Like....are you sure you didn't hear them wrong.....that's just.....ignorant.......(on their part, not yours:)

Sadly, I heard the same statement from a different source. Hollywood is trying to diminish the true meaning of C.S. Lewis' work.

Its a common ploy of news agencies to say "such and such said this.........." to alleviate their responsibility to the story and try and remain neutral, but ultimately they choose what goes on air, and they choose the attitiude they take to interviewees, and they most definitely have an agenda when dealing with Christians.

I did a quick search and found this on "rapidnet.com" credited to a J. Beard; I have to admit I haven't confirmed the accuracy of the info.

"Is Narnia an allegory?

All readers of Narnia must realise that Aslan the Lion, who is the Son of the Great Emperor Across the Sea, who breaks the power of the White Witch by his death and resurrection -- and who, as C.S. Lewis pointed out to one of his young readers "arrived at the same time as Father Christmas" -- is a picture of Jesus Christ. Does it follow that the books as a whole are allegories?

C.S. Lewis used a very strict definition of the word "allegory" -- after all, one of his most important academic books was a study of this subject. He wrote to some Maryland fifth graders in 1954:

"I did not say to myself 'Let us represent Jesus as He really is in our world by a Lion in Narnia'; I said, 'Let us suppose that there were a land like Narnia and that the Son of God, as he became a Man in our world, became a Lion there, and then imagine what would happen.'"

"The whole series" wrote Lewis in another letter "works out like this:

The Magician's Nephew tells the Creation and how evil entered Narnia,

The Lion etc. - the Crucifixion and Resurrection,

Prince Caspian - restoration of the true religion after a corruption,

The Horse and His Boy - the calling and conversion of the heathen,

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - the spiritual life (especially in Reepicheep),

The Silver Chair - the continuing war against the powers of darkness,

The Last Battle - the coming of Antichrist (the ape). The end of the world and the last judgement."

So, in today's loose terminology the books can probably be said to be "allegorical." If you want to use that term, then a number of characters might be said to be allegories:

The White Witch represents the Devil, as does Tash.

Peter represents the valiant and wise Christian.

Reepicheep is the very soul of chivalry with both its virtues and its failings.

"Edmund," wrote Lewis "Is, like Judas, a traitor and a sneak. But unlike Judas he repents and is forgiven (as Judas no doubt would have been if he'd repented)."

Father Christmas -- who gives gifts to Aslan's followers to help them fight the powers of darkness -- may be a picture of the Holy Spirit."

Great post, Fiosh  From what I can tell, it's all accurate.

I've actually grown to love these book even more as an adult than I did as a kid...which is saying something.

The reason that I asked is because if this is the case then I am seriously considering contacting Sky News on the matter.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
