I agree that many christians tend to alienate homosexuals. Sin is sin, no one sin is any worse than any other. Therefore, you should not treat any sinner any different from another, because we are all sinners! Luke 6:27-36 teaches us to love our enemies. In the same way, we need to accept all sinners into our church, for that is what God does with all of his children.

here we go again.... Why does every one who sins come on this board to try to justify their sinful lifestyle. If two men or two women want to shack up ..go for it, but be prepared to suffer the consequences. Hebrews beauty says...dont quote scripture because she knows it all. well if you do HB why ask stupid questions. The bible has all the answers beides christian and non christian dating.

Seems like you like to play on both teams.

eric.

I don't think my questions are stupid. This is something I have prayed about and am seeking answers about because of my conviction on the subject and because of my relationship with God. I'd rather be honest with God about how I feel and what I have learned, than to lie to myself and others.

Up to a point. The issue of church discipline is always out there and while homosexuals are also sinners who need the gospel the church cannot condone nor allow them to continue in their lifestyle and remain in the church just as the church cannot allow adulturers to continue in theirs without consequences.

Also I think we tend to focus on homosexuality more, simply because it is a sin which is being normalized in our society and in fact it is thrown in our face or at least seems that way in the popular media and culture. One would be quite surprised to find that gays constitute only 2-3% of the population given the media attention and focus they achieve. This is combined with the fact that it is a national political issue right now.

Adulterers, thieves and liars don't have an interest group promoting the normalcy and acceptance of adultery, theft and lying as does the gay movement. From a sin perspective certainly gay sex is no better nor is it any worse than any other sexual sin, which of course includes ALL sex outside of marriage between a man and a women, as Christ defined it. I do think however that when we institute church discipline and look at what is preached from the pulpit we must be consistent on sexual sin. Just in numbers unbiblical divorce and co-habitation are a much much larger issue for Christian congregations than is rampant gay sex.

So, I think we need to be very careful about focusing on gay sex as somehow standing out as this sin among sins, or gays as somehow bigger sinners than any of us, which they are not. Certainly I committed sin today in my thoughts every much as bad as gay sex, sin is sin. I hope however I don't try to justify those sins as normal and good, a part of who I was meant to be, but because of the Gospel I realize that I have forgiveness if I repent and try to do better. The danger of the gay world is the refusal to recognize their sin, without that recognition they will refuse to seek forgiveness through the Gospel. Of course the non-recognition of sin is not unique to gay people.

I THINK IT'S SO TRUE ABOUT CHRISTINS IN CHURCH,THAT IN FACT THEY DO LOOK AT HOMOESEXUAL'S AS THE ALL TIME SIN!if THEY WOULD JUST STOP AND THINK THAT THEY ARE BEING JUDGEMENTAL TO ALL WHO CLAIM TO BE HOMOSEXUALS,BUT THEY DON'T.IT'S NOT SOMETHING THEY ARE BORN WITH EITHER.IT IS WITHOUT A DOUGH A CHOICE U MAKE.IF IT WAS A GIVEN LIFESTYLE,DO YOU THINK THERE WOULD BE SO MUCH CONTROVERSY WITH IT.DO U THINK GOD WOULD MAKE A LIFESTYLE THAT WAS SO RIGHT FOR IT TO BE SO WRONG,EVEN WITH A DISEASE SUCH AS AIDS!I THINK NOT.WE AS CHRISTINS MUST LEARN HOW TO ACCEPT PEOPLE FOR WHO THEY ARE AT THE PRESENT MOMENT,AND NOT JUDGE THEM FOR WHO THEY ARE AT THAT MOMENT.LOVE THE SINNER,BUT HATE THE SIN...YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO BRING SINNERS TO CHRIST WITH ONE SURE WAY,AN THAT IS GOD'S LOVE FOR ALL SINNERS....

Smalcald is on to it and can see the dangers. Govts, the media, films, sitcoms are flaunting homosexuality in our faces and impying that's it is the norm. Even some churches are embracing them to the point of ordaining homosexual mimisters. This "love the sinner and hate the sin" catchphrase is getting flogged to death and is a cop out for people who don't know how to approach gays without offending them. Why is it alright to promote gay living with reckless abandon in our faces, in our homes in our schools and cinemas. without expecting some sort of resistance. With the amount of publicity the gay lifestyle is getting from both sides of the argument it has to be obvious that homosexuality is an abonination to God. There's only one choice......up or down.

I saw the promos of Elton John's wedding and I wanted to throw up.

My tolerance is wearing thin and I don't care who knows it. I know the replies I'll get................what about the adulterers and the fornicators and the pornos and the paedaphiles and the sex behind the bike sheds,...............Well it's not thrown in our faces like the homosecual lifestyle as being the norm. Anyone who says they dont know sodomy is abhored by God should be told so.

cheers,

eric

Eric, I agree and disagree. Yes, I am tired of hearing about homosexuality and the attempt to normalize it...but the problem isn't homosexuals. The problem isn't solved by saying, "God hates it." It's an underlying philosophy on life that people have...look at Hebrew Beauty and how she thinks. She believes homosexuals have been created this way, but this stems from a belief that humans are nothing more than animals. We evolved that way. In other words, the problem isn't really homosexuality, the problem is that many people (including Christians) have a worldview that is very absent of God. Thus morals are relative and these things are normal.

We need to attack the worldview, not the result of the worldview.

yeah right, Joel. I know where you are coming from because you and I have been on different threads and forums about this topic before. You are right about the world view, but how do we attack the world view. We will always be at enmity with the world and will be more so as the world slides futher down the slope of evil and corruption and it is being helped by the pathetic watered down gospel that's coming across too many of the pulpits. You know what I mean The modern theology today it to "don't rock the boat" The leaders of the denom churches are frightened their flock will stay away if you mention the consquences of any kind of sin. Gays are no worse than any other sinners, but unless they are prepared to confess their wrongness, then you can't help them.

Passing a bill and making soemthing legal doesn't change things. This stupid Govt of ours has just passed a bill legalising prostitution, but that doesn't let prostitutes off God's hook The world, Joel of which you speak, is doing everthing in it's power to call everything evil, good and everything that is good, evil. Some one has to make a stand, because the denom churches aren't. THE church is at war with the world and will win, and the devil take the hindmost.

Joel you have a great day in Jesus,

eric.

Well no matter how much Christians say it is wrong, which it is, doesn't mean that this world will stop pushing it. The world pushes everything. By having people stand outside and hold picket signs that say "God hates gays" Isn't going to solve anything. It'll make matters worse. It's a catch 22 becuase we hate the sin but we tend to hate the people too, when we shouldn't be wasting our anger on them.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
