Hey everyone! Thankyou so much for your ideas and posts  This might just be "coincidence"(I dont' believe in coincidence though), but I chose baptist because I feel that that is what the Lord layed on my heart. I guess the Lord will just have to conquer my fear of learning my church's history and writing a paper on my own religion while fearing I will mess everything up. Thankyou so much :24: (I have my pastor and youth pastor helping me.. not to mention my pastor's wife and a man at my church who has just answered the Lord's call to preach). Thankyou :24:

Not quite. Gotcha. John was John the Baptizer of our Lord. Nothing "denominational" about it whatever. Believers' baptism (via immersion) doesn't belong to any one "denomination" for two concrete reasons: (1) There were no "denominations" in Jesus' time; and (2) Believers' baptism is part & parcel of every true Christian believer's holy obligation.

Arthur - May I suggest you go down to the local convenience store and purchase yourself a sense of humor?

That little  face I inserted indicated that I was teasing!

Shish, and I thought I had a problem with being too literal for my own good. . . .

I'm Baptist, specifically Southern Baptist. I don't know much about the differences in Baptist churches other than S. Baptist's believe in eternal security (OSAS) doctrine, Freewill Baptist's don't. Independent Baptist's, on one website I checked awhile back, claimed the OSAS doctrine, however, my uncle attends an Independent B church and they don't follow the OSAS doctrine. ??? A lot of interesting research there.

OSAS?

what is that? If by eternal security, you mean that one cannot lose one's salvation, that is what my church believes- we are 'independent fundamental Baptist".

there sure are a lot of divisions in baptists as a denomination- like this joke...

A man was walking across a bridge one day, and saw another man standing on the edge, about to jump off. The first man immediately ran over and said "Stop! Don't do it!"

"Why shouldn't I?" he said.

The man said, "Well, there's so much to live for!"

"Like what?"

"Well ... are you religious or atheist?"

"Religious."

"Me, too! Are you Christian or Jewish?"

"Christian."

"Me, too! Are you Catholic or Protestant?"

"Protestant."

"Me, too! Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?"

"Baptist."

"Wow! Me too! Are you Baptist Church of God or Baptist Church of the Lord?"

"Baptist Church of God."

"Me, too! Are you Original Baptist Church of God, or are you Reformed Baptist Church of God?"

"Reformed Baptist Church of God."

"Me, too! Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1879, or Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915?"

"Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915!"

To which the man said, "Die, heretic scum!" and pushed him off the bridge.
