Hi, Danny.

I, too believe in saving all life whenever possible. And to be honest, I don't swat flies or even step on bugs if I see them and can avoid them. I think what this man did was terrible but I also don't think we should find any hidden messages in the fact that the mouse then burned the house down. Karma.....ya know? tehe..... :o

As a resident of Oregon I can tell you that PETA and other tree-hugging organizations, though very protective of all animal and plant life, have forgotten the importance of human life.

We live in a country where the spotted owl is saved but the child can be cast aside. :)

I saw this story on the news again this morning and it looks like burning leaves caused the fire.....not the little rodent! :)

 I agree... and the fella sure didn't "deserve" to have his house burned down for it. Come on folks... this is a person, not an animal. Maybe he made a mistake in how he disposed of the mouse but to say he deserved to have his house burned down??? :24:

FORT SUMNER, N.M. - A mouse got its revenge against a homeowner who tried to dispose of it in a pile of burning leaves. The blazing creature ran back to the man’s house and set it on fire.

Luciano Mares, 81, of Fort Sumner said he caught the mouse inside his house and wanted to get rid of it.

“I had some leaves burning outside, so I threw it in the fire, and the mouse was on fire and ran back at the house,” Mares said from a motel room Saturday.

Village Fire Chief Juan Chavez said the burning mouse ran to just beneath a window, and the flames spread up from there and throughout the house.

No was hurt inside, but the home and everything in it was destroyed.

Unseasonably dry and windy conditions have charred more than 53,000 acres and destroyed 10 homes in southeastern New Mexico in recent weeks.

“I’ve seen numerous house fires,” village Fire Department Capt. Jim Lyssy said, “but nothing as unique as this one.”

I think he got what he deserved. His lack of respect for life in general is apalling. I will be surprised if PITA doesn't file a law suit against the man.

It's horrible.

But what do you think of capturing a magpie, and letting it atrract others to it's aid, then they can shoot them>?

LOts of Christians would say that's ok........just wondered, because there is so much controversy in this Thread.

I've never heard of such a thing. Where did you get that from, Yomo?

Some friends did that.

Golly, I was horrified.

Yet some Christians do that still.

Is it called Magpie Hunting, or something?

Oh, brill post, above poster!

I don't think so either. How do you explain that one to the insurance adjuster?

I was thinking about relating a story yesterday, but I got really busy at work. So here goes:

On the weekends I work for an organization that takes care of juvenille offenders - it's kind of a halfway house situation. Anyway, they have two homes in the Treasure Valley; one of them is in a remote location, almost out in the woods. Anyway, they get a lot of mice there.

I normally don't work at that house, but on one weekend I did. The walls were literally crawling with mice - it was a major infestation. I tolerated all the scampering about the house for one night. The next night I got some mouse traps. Over the period of 8 hours the traps caught 9 mice. But not all of them were killed instantly. In fact, one of the mice was still alive when I found it in the trap. So what did I do? I put it in a bowl full of water in the kitchen sink and drowned it.

Did I feel bad? For a minute or two. But I figured that the thing was going to die anyway from getting snapped by the mousetrap, so it seemed like the most human thing to do.

Bottom line: Mice are a major nuissance. They carry disease and lice. And even though there are more humane ways of disposing of them than throwing them in a fire, we should remember that they can pose serious dangers to our health. Also, there is no shortage of mice in the world.

Incidentally, I learned something new through that experience that night. Apparently there is an animal called a "rockchuck;" It's supposed to be like a woodchuck...but not. Anyway, I saw one that night. See, I threw the dead mice out in the back yard of that property with the intent of putting them in the garbage bins come morning. But when I went out to pick them up, the were all gone. My guess is that a rockchuck came and ate them all up.

Creepy...

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
