re: Breath your Prayers ~

Blessings ~

Do you say your prayers out loud? Another words do you breath your prayers?

I say my prayers outloud so I put my breath into them.

Someone has written a book about this same thought breathing your prayers, I think this may be the title, I'm not sure. :)

I have never heard of breathing your prayers but I have heard of breath prayers. Breath prayers are short prayers such as "thank you Jesus for saving my soul", "I love You God", Etc. People that take the scripture "pray without ceasing" seriously uses these through the day to further communicate to God outside of regular prayer time to form a "day long" relationship with Him.

sounds like a hinn concept (I have heard him say more there once to breath our prayers so that they come from our body as well as our heart nonsense) and we need not breath our prayers for them to be heard

Long before there was a 'New Age Movement' 4th, 5th and 6th century Greek and Egyptian and Syrian Christian monks were exercising a particular prayer discipline which timed specific prayers to specific breathing patterns. It is in the Philokalia.

I do not know what they did or didn't do centuries ago, but if you want to call people that like to pray short prayers to God during the day heritics, then so be it.

How did this turn hostile? My goodness posters...the original post asked a simple question...do we say our prayers out loud or do we whisper/say them to ourselves?

For the record I do both. Put your microscopes away people, using them you will ALWAYS find something to argue about. Another thing, I'm sure God loves to hear us talk to him, out loud or silently, I can guarentee He is not up there going "Nope not gonna listen, cuz your not doing it right"

Love and Blessings,

Angel

Well certaintly repeating prayers under our breath would be wrong, it is a New Age practice.

However, I don't think that is what is being talked about (maybe some clarification could be given?).

Saying prayers outloud or within the mind do not matter....God hears them either way :whistling:

One thing I have learned about God......He is not complicated. He wants conversation with us and all the time we spend debating how we pray rather than praying, takes away from time with him. I bet he'd look right at us and say...."You breathed your prayers, shouted your prayers, cried out in your prayers and sang your prayers........but when did you ever stop and listen?" Maybe not. :whistling:

We seem to be looking for the magic formula in our faith. Our faith is not a formula that is perfectly created through trial and error. It's a relationship, much as the relationships you have with people. It's up and down and changing and just as a friendship grows over the years, so does our relationship with Him. It's not about knowing exactly how to pray. It's about knowing Him.

No need to put words in my mouth, although I've come to expect that here. Can you imagine the backlash if I had been the one to respond as you have?

You completely twisted what I'm saying. I said, point blank, that we should remain in constant communion with God throughout the day, the meaning of "pray without ceasing". I DID NOT say people can't ever pray out loud or say short prayers! What I am saying is this, and please pay careful attention: that the technique of repeating a "prayer phrase" that can be said in one breath is an establish occult practice. For me not to warn about it would be a sin.

I try and try to write clearly, but it's no use. People are bent on twisting everything I write and some have even begun to follow me around just to give a pat on the back to whomever is disagreeing with me. It's a pathetic display of hypocrisy, of character assassination, of most unChristlike behavior. I'm sick of it. Good riddance to this place!

Sometimes people misunderstand what we say, it's not a big deal. Just clarify and move on. It's really not worth throwing a tantrum over and certainly not fair to blame the entire website everytime someone hurts your feelings or misunderstands you. Instead of lashing out in anger, why not just take the time to explain what you meant? There are alot of us on this site who disagree on various issues, but we are capable of having conversations and discussions even in spite of these differences. Do they sometimes get heated? Absolutely. Sometimes unnecessarily so. But for the most part, we try to give eachother enough grace to express differences...even passionately. If this isn't something you can handle, you might consider taking a break just to let yourself calm down. Either way though, it would be really appreciated if you could make your exit (or take your break) without announcing it in a dramatic display of disapproval of the entire board. Let's have a little more class than that.

I think prayer out loud, whispering prayers, prayer alone and prayer in groups, silent prayer, etc...these are all acceptable and can all be beneficial. But as by what the post means by "breathing prayer" I don't know.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
