This is a empty promise to be more environmental - and a big handout to buisness interests. Where do you think were gonna get the energy to produce all the hydrogen needed? All this project will do is shift the burning of fossil fuels from cars to factories. Unless we build a ton of nuclear plants (I truely wish - they are so much greener than coal plants) nothing is gonna change.

Hardly. If they were so concerned about the public opinion regarding environmental issues they would have signed the Kioto Accord. Besides, 9 million is a drop in the bucket compared to what is needed. However, it is a good sign. We are entirely too dependant on foreign resources such as oil and countries such as Iran are fully aware of this. They will "lord" them over the rest of the world as long as we remain dependant. Hydrogen fuel cells will help but it will take decades at the current rate of developement to replace combustion engines.

He is getting more "green" publicity than 9million would buy him. This was purely a political move. He has mentioned it for years, and he is finally pretending to act on it. Just another joke from our worst president ever.

But a president that has made every country in the world like us less, stricken down more environmental laws than any other, allowed the amount of mercury in your childs drinking water to increase by 100x, lied to the american public, and countless other things - including running as a christian but rarely ever acting in a christian manner (1 phone call for chaplins to be able to pray again, and why has it been a month already? Its certainly not because he hasnt heard about it.)

If we, in the US, were like the rest of the world in their "environmental awareness", we would not even have one-fifth of the environmental regulations we have today. Kyoto is nothing more than an empty promise made by the other countries to be more environmental friendly and to sucker the US into not signing something that was a means to, again, critize the US for being "big and mean."

If you think the US is bad today, look at thirty to forty years ago before we had the environmental laws we have today. No matter what we do or what laws we pass, there are environmentalists who will not be satified. Just because an environmental scientist says we need this law or else that will happen does not necessarily mean that scientist is correct. There are such things as "junk science."

just because others dont do as much as us doesnt give us an excuse. Thats like saying they get to sin, why cant we?

We know better and have the capability to do better. So we should. Were the richest country yet sorely lacking compared to many others environmentally. There is no excuse.
