That (along with 8 or 9 other songs) were actually played on a WSM broadcast in 1988 commemorating the 35th anniversary of Hank's passing. It was called "Hank Williams-Beyond The Legend" and you might find someone (I don't know what happened to my copy) who has a copy of this program. The whole deal with these was when Hank was unable to do the show live, he pre-recorded these 15 minute segments to be played at 7AM on WSM just as if they were live in studio. By contract, WSM was supposed to destroy the acetates of the shows and be done with them. Sometime in the early 60's, WSM ditched the acetate masters of these shows in the dumpster! By this time Hank was already a legend having died the early death that he did, but they were still gotten rid of. A cameraman, whose name escapes me at the moment, found these and knowing what they were, rescued them from oblivion. He gave them first to Jerry Rivers (I believe) who was Hank's fiddler. Over the years they passed from Drifting Cowboy to Drifting Cowboy. Hillous Buttrom, as mentioned earlier in the article, sold off the "rights" of these to Legacy Entertainment who went so far as to overdub 40 of the songs and they were going to mass-market the recordings via TV ads. At that point, Jett Williams and her lawyer husband stepped in and filed a motion to stop Legacy from selling these. To muddy the waters even further, Universal Music (parent of Mercury/Polygram records) claimed they had the exclusive right to Hank's music! Hopefully there will not be an appeal by Universal or Legacy and these can be released!
