Question about Son's Dream

If the dream "got his attention" then he needs to be in prayer about it. I certainly don't presume to understand things, but I do know that God sent me a few dreams, and when it's from God, you know.    If it is then he will come to know what it means, if he doesn't already. I think sometimes it's a communication to our inner man, and the inner man understands.

Yes, he definitely needs to pray about it. :)

Calamity,

If I may have a opinion here I would say that it is not unusual for a teenager (or anyone else for that matter) to get side tracked.

God is not the author of confusion, I'm with traveler here, if you or your son don't KNOW it's of God, don't assume it is.

My advice would be that your son go about his business of living and if the time comes where he can't think of being anything but an evangelist, then that would be the time to pursue it. I don't know why God would send a message with buzzing and blackouts.....Do you? I feel that God speaks more clearly than that.

imho

Thanks, nebula! I'll let him read this when he gets home, or tomorrow morning. I thought the black out thing was unusual when he told me about that.

I appreciate the information and details from your experiences. It helped - at least it helped me!

Calamity: Here's how I can usually tell. The fruit of the Spirit is a good indicator, even if the dream is an "endtimes" dream - still there's a 'peace' about the dream itself.

Not all dreams are sweet dreams..some are dreams of warning. Some are meant to prepare us for things to come.

I dreamt of Saddam Hussein's return to power - in 1996...but I didn't understand the dream then because he'd been so crushed by the war in 91'.

I dreamed about vile corruption of the Catholic Church and saw it's raw tentacles reaching deep within the Vatican. I saw this in 1996 ..well before the scandal broke loose on the media.

Just a few examples..

And there's some yet to come...and those are very dark and foreboding.

What's odd is that when God speaks in dreams, even if we don't grasp the full meaning, there's a sense of awe and peace. The dreams don't promote fear... but do tend to alert us of things to come.

Consider Joseph...when he had dreams which exalted him above his own brothers..

Or Joseph, husband of Mary...the dream from God about Mary's conception.

Or Mary herself...she often pondered things in her heart...not fully comprehending all that was revealed.

The dreams seem to prepare us so that when events do happen in our lives, we recall the dream that warned us of those things we would someday face.

Doesn't it seem interesting that Jesus got in a boat and rowed out into the water to preach, while your son stood in a pickup truck and preached to onlookers...

Doesn't seem too hard to figure...there's a plan for his life and when the time comes, he'll remember the dream that planted the seed...God has a plan for that young man.

And ...maybe the buzz was just his alarm going off...

"The dreams promote fear... "

Could you explain that?

I seem to remember God's messengers saying "fear not"

I have an update. My son just told me something else. First, about the noise in the dream. He described it as a loud ringing. He said the blackness blocked out everything so he could not see anything in his dream, then the ringing started and got louder and louder until that's all he could hear. Then, it started fading and getting softer, and that's when he heard the voice. After the voice, the ringing noise got louder and he woke suddenly, and it was over.

Last night. He was in bed reading (not his Bible, but a fiction book). He said it was probably about 12:30 am, and he heard someone call his name. He thought it was me, and realized no other lights were on, and we were asleep. He believes he heard this three times, sounding like it came from behind him, as he was in bed. A female voice, not male.

Now, I don't know. I told him to be sure and let me know if anything else happened, and if he believed something was from the devil, to tell it 'The Lord rebuke you'. He's a level-headed young man, and feels sure of his evangelist call. Any more input here would really, really be appreciated.

Oops. I meant...dreams don't promote fear....

There was supposed to be a "don't" in there...but I left it out. Kinda changes the whole meaning.... I know somebody was really listening and caught that....

You're hired! (I needed a proofreader.) I'll go back and edit that post. Thanks!

Calamity: What did the voice say? That's pretty key here.

I think we're all just guessing here... I'd just pray with your son right now...and together in faith ask the Lord.

Ask the Father to rebuke any spirit not from Him and ask Him to grant your son wisdom and a peace about it.

Sometimes dreams can be just something from our own flesh, too. That's always possible.

Just take it to the Father. Remember what He said? Anyone who lacks wisdom, let him ask and God will give freely...

Calamity

Remember Nebuchadezzar's dream, it was obviously from God and was fearful. The fear comes from not knowing but his dream was even more fearful once he knew.

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and disciipline.

God can and does use fear to get our attention. I would be more worried that your son by way of just going on with his life and ignoring what he already knows to be true may be missing some key opportunities because he is blowing things off.

The dream itself is not what is important here but it may play a small part. The loud bells could be something as simple as like a dinner bell calls shepards in from the fields. So in the dream it could be a bell calling him to service for the Lord. Who knows but really it is for your son to search out. If it is from the Lord he will find a way to get your son's attention. Our pastor was having dreams as a young man about preaching, he did not want to do it. He was afraid of giving up his life as it was at the time and kept pushing it off. He finally gave in when he was at a youth conference and was called out by the speaker by name. And he is a very on fire for the Lord preacher now. My point is don't get too worried about it, if God wants him, God will get him. Look at Jonah he couldn't get away with running away and your son will not either if God has selected him for something important.

As far as dreams being fearful I had one about my oldest daughter going into surgery. I felt completely helpless in my dream watching her pass through those doors. I woke up and told myself it was just me getting myself all worried because she was pregnant and I was stressed about her upcoming labor. Anyway I was wide awake from this dream that did cause fear and the phone rang. She was at the hospital in labor, so I told myself well maybe there was something to the dream, it was just to get me alert and on the move. My daughters labor lasted for over 24 hours and it was gruelling, on the 25th hour they took her into surgery. As you can imagine I was down at the chapel and on my knees while she was in there. And I don't just blow things off anymore or chalk it up to my inner person. I have absolutely no control over my dream state and should never try and take any credit for it.

As it turns out I had other dreams in the very near future that were to warn others of things going on with them. I think God just used the one with my daughter to let me know it was real. I did warn these people and they in turn made adjustments in their lives to the good because of it. But each of these dreams were frightening because they were going the wrong way. One of these dreams was horrifying. There was intense literal spiritual warfare going on with a man who had fallen away from God and gotten into heavy drinking. I saw the actual warfare going on about him with demons and angels. He had also gotten into acting out sexually and was a single father. In the dream this went on to the point where he molested his teenage daughter. I had to go tell this guy what he was doing, what was going on in the heavenly realm over all this, and where it was going to lead. Because I knew what was going on in his life that he thought was secret he listened to me. Needless to say he is sober today and seeking God again. Now what if I had just blown that off? Or decided because it was very frightening it was not from God? I always wonder how many times we all miss God given opportunities or lessons because we chalk it up to coincedence or just a fluke. God can only use those that pay attention and are willing to follow through on seeking answers. Tell your son to pray earnestly for the answer and even fast if need be. But Calamity this has to be done by him not you. And I mean no disrespect there it's just the way it is.

In Yeshua's love

I agree with you here Shilou. When I was out in the world, away from God, He sent me a dream to wake me up. It did too, both spiritually and literally. It definately got my attention. I was afraid, not because of the actual dream, but because of the message if I failed to wake up. It was both a warning if I didn't and a blessing if I did.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
