Amen to that Trever!!! Reverend Donald Wildmon needs to learn that the ol' TV set has two, count 'em TWO, knobs on the set. One of them turns the TV off. And the other one, changes the station.

Why on earth should the responsibility be on those who have standards and want to uphold them? Why shouldn't the responsibility be on those who push this garbage? Just turn it off? That doesn't fly. How do you "just turn off" the commercials that always have the worst part of the show (otherwise known, sadly, as the "funniest" part to reel people in) that pop up while you are watching something else? Why should people have to worry if they've left their 13 year old for a half hour or so who might stumble upon it and have no supervision to discern what they are watching? Why should I have to get up and do anything? No, the responsibility lies with the offending party. Putting the responsibility on the innocent party is a tactic of satan IMO.

could allow others to walk all over us, on the other hand, i choose not to do that......

I enjoy a show from time to time, and i would like to be assured that "NON-CABLE" stations would be safe for children to watch with out fear of them seeing porn or other garbage that is mis-rated.....

why not have programming that is wholesome.....

i had a friend that was a newsbroadcaster, who got fired for slipping one swear word in ( life cast ) the tech rolled the wrong film piece and when he looked at the monitor, he seen it......

now even cartoons are cussin' and talking about intimate relations and this that and other, drinking booze and smoking what ever...... this is not TV, this is garbage, and needs to be in the dump burning with the rest of the garbage.... and those condoning it and puting this stuff out, will be for leading people astray....

better is it for one to have a mill stone tied about his neck and dropped into the deepest sea then to harm one of these children ( children have no age )......

I feel for those that are leading others away from God, for they will not only suffer for their own actions, they are not only responsible for their own actions, but will also be held responsible for leading others away, they will suffer a greater punishment....... not saying a person is not responsible for their own actions, cause they are, but also if one is lead down the wrong paths, the person leading them will suffer for them as well......

you may not understand, but the time is at hand where we are to stop playing church and be the church, it is time to stop acting as though we know it all, and allow God to work thru us... it is time to Do Gods Bidding.......

No one has to watch TV. If something isn't suitable for kids (lots of talk about kids watching porn etc going on here) then it's simple: don't let them watch it. It is a parents responsibility to monitor what they're children are doing. There is no getting around that.

Gerioke is right. TV isn't a necessity and people need to stop acting like it is. There's a whole world out there, and it's bigger than the 15inch box most people have in their front rooms.

Its a shame we cant be shackled to our kids until they hit the grave huh. At some point or other, they will be exposed to these sorts of programs whether we like it or not and whats more, adults can be just as susceptible. Thats why there are christians and christian institutions that stand against these programmes. Seculars are happy to blame God when things go wrong, try telling THEM to put up or shut up....

even if you do not have a TV or allow them to watch the TV, when they go to friends houses, they will be watching.....

part of the problem with this world today, is that those that know right from wrong wont take a stand for what is right, we do not have to be violent in our actions, that would not be good, but we do need to let the world know that it is not good to be doing these things.....

pornography actually means photographing prostitutes.....

would Christ condone this type of behavior? or would he say or do something about it???

I believe Christ would have spoken out about it..... just to say we can not do anything about it is bogus, we can and we will...... if only we get up off our fat lazy backsides and do it.....

as was said in a previous post, the secular world dont want nothing to do with God cause they are being convicted by the Spirit of God and would rather blame God for the stuff that is our own fault.....

most of the people tend to even curse the ground that they walk on.... what am i talking about???? i am talking about the human tongue.... sharper then a two edged sword..... we have the power of life and death in our tongue...... we curse things and do not even realize it, we even curse ourselves during normal conversation..... "I am starving to death" is a curse against our own self.... we need to watch our language and also the language of others that are around us.

if some one is cursing in your work space, and you mention that you do not like it and they continue on ignoring you or even poking fun, then you need to report it to a higher authority, for that is illegal, we have the RIGHT to work in a non-threatening environment, this includes freedom from those that are going against our "RELIGIOUS" beliefs..... if they ( the employeer ) does not want to do anything about it, then report them, if they fire you then you have just been fired for your religious beliefs.... again that is against the law...... ( read the EEO rules )

if my child goes over to a friends house, then i want to be fairly sure that my 10 year old is not seeing sex or sexual inuendos on their TV..... and if they are, then it wont be coming from the broadcast stations, and if they are then i can go after the adults at that household for contributing to the deli nquency of a minor...

Have you seen what passes for PG lately? Even kid's shows are not safe for children. The best thing you can do is stop giving your money to the cable companies. Teach your kids how to make up games. Teach them to be creative. TV teaches against these things.

Yet you speak up against the christian opposition to homosexual practice and marriage, if it offends you, don't read it. Simple really.

You say you read the bible and that God is not good despite what the bible testifies. If it offends you, don't read it. Simple really.

Are these really my sentiments? no. I welcome debate and absolutely encourage the reading of scripture (though I don't condone using it as a weapon against christianity), but what I dont welcome is a "put up or shut up" attitude, I think you may find that such responses won't earn you much respect at worthy.

I believe the intent of the OP is not just that we should "not be of the world" but also be the light and salt, making a stand for christian principals and defending our faith.

You seem to have set your stall out pretty quick, expressing your liberal attitudes and anti-christian views by focusing solely on threads that deal with human and divine morality. That is your prerogative and your entitlement, but if you come here on the offensive you may find it ALOT harder to garner credibilty for your viewpoints.

funny thing is, this house hold has not paid a dime for cable for about 11 years....... honestly, the cable still goes from the pole to the house, and that is where it stops, stapled to the house..... when i get up there to re-roof the house, that cable will be removed and rolled up and set beside the pole.....

you have just said exactly what i have been saying.... if your children go to a friends house, they will be seeing what is on cable and or their TV's......
