The fact is, reporters should just report the news, but more and more the line dividing news gathering/reading from news commentary is becoming harder to distinguish.

... the reason why I can't stomach Fox&Friends--america's morning indoctrination service.

Let me guess. You believe what the Michael Moore and moveon.org crowd thinks of Fox News, right?

uhh... no. What's up with all these assumptions?! I must either toe the Fox line or I'm so kind of radical socialist or liberal bombthrower--ridiculous!

Funny how it's become the most watched, most highly rated, and (according to polls) most fair and balanced cable news network on the planet.

Marnie said that a child can tell that the F&F "anchors" are hams. She/he also argued that the line between news and commentary on our major news media outlets is becoming blurrier--and I agree. That line is as blurry on Fox as it is at the NY Times.

Be careful who you call nieve, CS; you're talking about something around 60% of the viewing public.

Didn't mean to imply that all who tune in are naive. Was speaking of those who tune in and are naive.

Besides, everybody's stupid--especially me.

Okay, I can agree with that. I think it's prudent to find your sources of news in more than one place, and then form your own objective opinion.

We would all be better off without the news, left or right. That's what I was getting at. Wouldn't we all be better off dealing with our own problems and spending our energy on issues closer to home? Why do we need to know every detail about what's going on in Iran. The Lord told us 2000 years ago what to expect and how to deal with it. He didn't have news networks to fill him in and He didn't tell us to keep tuned in to Fox. He told us to be prepared, plain and simple.

As for debate, I don't recall name calling and finger pointing to be part of the description of debate. It has alreasdy started in this thread, and gives credence to what I was trying to say in the first place. :whistling:

Who are you, and what did you do with our Gerioke?

Seriously, though - I agree!

And of course . . . after all the debating is done . . .

Who has believed the report of the Lord? Absolute truth is

absolutely true, any which way we cut it, the Truth of the Bible

remains . . .

I agree with Gerioke 100%.

It only took a few posts before what he was trying to point out started happening. :whistling:

God bless you Gerioke. Take it from a former news hound, who has been on both sides. There is very little truth out there in any news source, it is all editorialized.

Blessings, kamusat

Concerning the different news networks that are available, I trust Fox News above the rest. As a matter of fact, I have no confidence in CNN, NBC, ABC or CBS. I do believe Fox News gives a fair and balanced news report.

As far as why we should be informed of what is going on in the world, this is my reason. Jesus refered to us as the salt of the earth. Salt has a preserving effect on food as well as providing flavor. That was even more so the case before electricity, and modern refrigeration. To me the church has a responsibility to do what is in our power to preserve our nation against moral corruption. I realize there is only so much we can do, but we do have more power than we are given credit for.

For instance, if the church would unite behind the goal of ending legalized abortion in America, there is a good chance we could achieve that objective. By keeping up with the postitions of our elected leaders, we could as a massive voting block, kick anyone that supports abortion out of office. Over time, through retirements of the current justices on the Supreme Court, new pro-life judges could be appointed to take their place, eventually leading to the overturning of Roe v Wade. The same thing can be said of the many other moral issues this country faces.

I do agree with one person who said the Bible is our only form of absolute truth. That is why I believe in reading it every day. At the same time, I do not think it is wise to put our head in the sand, and ignore the things going on around us as relates to this country. We have a duty to do everything in our power to turn America back to God. This is also prudent for us to do because if the wicked continue their take over, with it we will eventually see more and more restrictions on the church. All it would take is a few more activist judges, and they would simply decree that freedom of religion doesn't mean the freedom to speak out against behavior they support.

When I seek to know what is going on in the world, I go to the Fox News Channel. I also read news stories on the internet. Then when I want to know how these events effect me, as well as hearing about stories that the news media has overlooked, I listen to people such as Tony Snow, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michael Medved, Rusty Humphreys, Hugh Hewitt, etc. I do know they are all right of center and that is why I listen to them. It is that perspective I am looking for. Listening to liberals only angers me, since I disagree with everything they stand for.

Jesus approached everybody at a personal level. He didn't write petitions to the government to stop people from sinning. He went right to the sinner. I have already heard a couple of hundred times how great Fox is. Can't you see that instead of going out into the community and being with the people, we are soaking up all this bad news that really, only a small percentage of effects us personally. We take the world on our shoulders because we hear about all these bad things going on and I feel it has to effect us negatively. The bible already tells us how it's all going to go down. Shouldn't we be more concerned with being a light to our neighbors and let the Lord handle our adversaries? ;)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
