How do you exercise spiritually?

Jesus was our example that we should follow His steps. He always walked in the faith and love of God. Jesus always spent time with the Father in prayer. Jesus prayed continually.

Remember this story:

Mark 9

"17": And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;

"18": And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.

"19": He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.

"20": And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.

"21": And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.

"22": And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.

"23": Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

"24": And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

"25": When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

"26": And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.

"27": But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.

"28": And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?

"29": And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting .

Did Jesus fast and pray just then?

No. He had already been fasting and praying regularly. He exercised His spirit consistently in doing the will of God. He said, "I always do those things that are pleasing to the Father."

Spiritual exercise would be living unto Him, by Him, and for Him.

Good question.

Peace.

How do you exercise spiritually?

I make sure that I get up each morning at least an hour or so prior to the time I have to be up and I begin my day with prayer, with reading God's word and in journaling. I pray about what is going on in my life, I ask for guidance, I thank and praise God, I make requests for other people, I confess sin, and I just ask that God speak to my heart - "Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening." Then, when he shows me something, I write it down, and then I do whatever he has shown me if it is something that requires action on my part. Sometimes all he wants me to do is to continue in prayer about something, because he is testing my faith in his promises. The BIG thing here is this: Pray, Read, Listen & Obey. The more you pray, the more intimate your relationship will grow with him, the more you read, the more you are able to hear him speak, the more you listen, the more you will know his voice, and the more you obey, the more he will continue to show you and the closer you will grow in your relationship with him. I think of it like Mary (sister of Martha) sitting at Jesus' feet.

(Don't get ahead of the Coach)

"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength,

they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run

and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint."

Isaiah 40:31

(Don't look back)

"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended, but this one thing I do,

forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those

things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high

calling of God in Christ Jesus." Philipians 3: 13-14

6. Check your heart rate:

b) "Let us draw near with true heart in full assurance of faith,

having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and

our bodies washed with pure water."

c) "Search me O God, and know my heart; try me and know

my thoughts; and see if there be any wicked way in me,

and lead me in the way everlasting." Psalm 139: 23-24

7. Do some stretches along the way:

Proverbs 31:20..."She stretches out her hand to the

poor; yea, she reaches out her hands to the needy."

8. Visit the "Gymn" regularly:

Psalm 150:1..."Praise you the Lord; praise God in His sanctuary..."

9. Do some "soul building"

"But you beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith,

praying in the Holy Ghost, keep yourselves in the love of God,

looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life." Jude 20-21

10. Keep your eyes on the Coach, He will not fail you!

"Now to Him who is able to keep you from falling, and to present you

faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only

wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty and dominion and power, both now and

forever, Amen.

11. Look, can you see the Coach at the finish line cheering you on? Feel that strength rise up

as the joy of the Lord "oxidizes" those muscles and again...you can run through a troop

and leap over a wall!!

Now let out a deep breath and rest.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
