We know that God has flesh, we saw this in Jesus.

Greetings Apo,

I believe we are talking about "the Father", and NOT the son:

Romans 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Philippians 1:22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.

Philippians 1:23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

Philippians 1:24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

1 John 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

Whereever the word "flesh" is used, it is not complimentary. I have already quoted the verse that God is Spirit. Jesus BECAME like man in sinful flesh. Again GOD IS SPIRIT.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

Hello All,

What does God look like?

Does anyone have any ideas or scriptures in this regards?

God Bless

Openly Curious

God is invisible.

1 Tim. 1:17

Heb. 11:27

Colossians 1:15

Hello 'man',

Thanks for you input. So from your post correct me if I am wrong but you think nobody can tell us what God looks like or can give us a physical discription of what God looks like because you can't see him right because He is invisible.

God Bless

Openly Curious

That's what the book says and I'm gonna go with that.

There's no reason for us to know what He looks like.

Thank you and I do believe there is a reason to know what He looks like as alot of doctrines thoughts and ideas going around today are incorrect.

God Bless

Openly Curious

Please explain to me way we must know what He looks like.

I myself do not know what He looks like and I don't need to know. All I need to know is that He's there.

Why are His looks so important to you?

Hello 'man',

Well if you don't want to know or don't need to know as you say I want converse with you on the subject and you can stay away from the thread if you so desire it's totally up to you on that end of things although I hope you'll stay with us I assure you this is all going somewhere just be a little patience.

It is important to me because I have heard some weird stuff concerning this issue from believers. Such as God having a femine side to him which the homosexual community is promoting this ideaology as they are trying to do away with gender of any kind in general. And sadly the church world has picked up this ideaology and taken it for themselves and it is now floating around in our churches.

I think we're missing the key elements here. For one, we cannot see God the Father because our mortal bodies, subjected to the fall, could not handle His glory. We know that God has flesh, we saw this in Jesus. We also know, however, that God is a Spirit, as we see in the Holy Spirit. We forget there is a triune nature to God. He is three seperate persons. Now, we know that we are in the image of God, but thsi does not mean we are direct copies of God. Honestly, because God holds a different ontological make up from our own (if He did not then He would be equal to us), we really cannot comprehend how He looks. The answer is impossible...we can only deal with His nature and the ways He manifests Himself to us...we cannot fully comprehend His metaphysical image and composition.

Hello apothanein kerdos,

Thanks for your response. I take your view is you don't think anybody can know what He looks like. But I noticed one thing as I read through your post it just stood out to me as I was reading and I am not picking on you here. But you referenced God as Father, and always used a capitol "H" (as that shows your high respect to God which I also do) when you referenced God always in the male tense:

His glory--He is--He did--He would--He looks--His nature--He manifests Himself--His metaphysical

So I think it is safe to assume you believe God's form is indeed male. If not correct you can slam dunk me in your reply.

God Bless You

You cannot quantify God in such a way. He cannot be reduced to a certain kind of figure or shape. In Exodus 33:20, God tells Moses, "You cannot see my face, for no one can see me and live." I believe that the term "face" in that context refers to God's totality as it exists in the realm of the spirit.

Since we do not yet live in the realm of the spirit, God does not allow us to see His totality (His total glory, if you will) because the innate power of His glory would blast us out of existence.

In the Old Testament scriptures that speak of God coming to earth in OT times, It seems to me that the human figure shown is a shadow of Jesus in His body.

Well in Revelations is says that we won't need a sun or moon in heaven because God lights heaven up!

I like to think that all good things on earth are suggestions of aspects of God. Sometimes I'm amazed at the vastness of the universe. That's a hint of God's vastness. Or the brilliance of the moon and sun well, that's just a hint of God's brilliance. Or when you are connecting with that "something" that people have, that's just a hint of what the connection with God will be like... the complexity of organisms in nature, the beauty of the flowers, the warmth of the sun... just hints to the complexity, beauty and warmth of God.

I always think about how Moses didn't even look at God, he just saw the back of God or something like that... and his face glowed for the rest of his life!

I think our human eyes cannot bear to look on God. God's just too godly to look upon. But more wonderful, more awesome, more majestic than any mountain any sunset any storm we have ever seen! :(

So I take it by your question you aren't concerned about God's nose shape, or if He even has a nose - but rather about His gender?

I too was wondering where you were going with this. Yes, I have seen weird stuff lately regarding the LORD's gender, such as 'God the Washer Woman' and attempts to claim that the Holy Spirit is 'she.' (Ah, but Jesus Himself, in the upper room discourse, referred to the Holy Spirit as 'he.')

Some people just ache for there to be a feminine in the Holy Trinity! They forget where the feminine fits in: that is us, His Bride.

Hello 'Ovedya',

Thanks for your response. Answer to your question=What does it matter anyway? Well it matters for doctrine, doctrine my friend that's why I posted this thread in the doctrine section. This is important doctrine that the church needs if they want to reject the current agenda's of the world today. I'm trying to give others the opportunity to share their views and opionions to see what others feel about it and I am slow at responding at the moment within this thread right now as to circumstances that keep pulling me away. So I'm having to post a little at a time. But it is important that the church come to see from scripture that God is in male form and does not have a feminine side to Him. As the homosexual agenda is so promoting to the church and the church is embracing this ideaology. So it is important from that perspective.

Hello 'sheya joie',

Yes yes my friend. You are touching on the subject I'm trying to get to but God's physical form is described to us in his word also and I'll be sharing those scriptures in this thread as well as I can. The bible does not give us all of the physical attributes of God but it does show and give us enough of a view of Him that any body could see with out a doubt that God is in Male form. There is nothing in the entire word from front to back cover that gives us a glimpse into his face. That pleasure has been reserved for the pure in heart for they shall see God.

And out of all the various views I've read within this thread thus far all scripture that has been used for or against has all addressed His gender in the male tense. So why is the church embracing our Creator in the gender nuetral zone. Why are we accepting this ideaology. And I agree people do just ache for there to be a feminine side to God and reduce Him in power.

And this topic is relevant just as you say between Christ and His bride.

Thank You So Much for your response

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
