You don't have to apologise but I certainly have the right to respond to the things you write. After all this is a Christian Forum and only the word of God will be final. Of course this live you with the option and free will of to go against the word of God, this is totally up to you. If you want a gospel that is more atractive to you I am sorry this is not available at least not in this board. I just worry about your spiritual health and will be praying for you to recive the kingdom of God as a child other wise you can not entered it.

I guess part of the problem I am having with this whole topic is that I have witnessed abusive men use scripture as a device of power and control and one more way of abusing their wife. They deny the women the right to have friends, to have outside interests, they isolate her, they deride her, and sometimes beat her, everything must be their way. Then they will have the gal to say that scripture says that indeed they are to be in control of the home and their wife is not being a good Christian if she does not submit to his abuse.

Abusive men have one overriding characteristic and that is the need for control, its not anger, or "losing it", it

I don't want to give controlling men the excuse of scripture to help them hurt their wives or girlfriends.

Hey I think we are going a little beyond from what this topic started.

On this case scenario after 2 years of prayers the husband now agrees to pay thieths ( 10%). And does not include physical abuse neither is this husband a non beliver.

I decided to write this jus to make it sure that everybody is on the same path.

This is always a touchy subject. What is the overall view in here about authority? Does the husband have authority over the wife? What about the parallel between the marriage relationship and Christ and the Church?

I don't have a good answer Tess. I can tell you what I do as a married man and it is basically what Butero and I was talking about. I view the passages in scripture for me and my responsibilities to the family, I do not try to enforce any of the passages that are addressed to my wife, that is totally her call on how she responds to those.

For me the basic authority is spiritual authority, not some sort of household authority. I choose our church and our tradition, but here again it was done with her consent and with discussion, the final decision is mine, but it would be a bad decision if it were made without input from her.

As an aside my wife earns about double what I make, she is an attorney, but she also feels that men should be in the pulpit only as it is what is called for in scripture. But it does put an interesting twist on things. We will celebrate our 20-year anniversary next month so far so good!
