Debate Is A Satanic Trap

OC

If you believe from your heart that debate is a satanic trap then i do not understand why you started one here. I know from experience that debate can help you learn and it also can show hidden things in your heart that you didn't know was there. it also can point out your carnal minded thinking that you did not know you had in certain areas of scripture and that could mean the life of someone. But you should be aware of your own trappings here if you think they are satanic lest you get caught in own snare.

Openly Curious

Haha....this person's entire article is self-refuting. He's debating against arguments that support debate. LOL!

This reminds me of a scene from Dumb and Dumber:

Lloyd: I'll bet you twenty dollars I can get you gambling before the day is out!

Harry: No!

Lloyd: I'll give you three to one odds.

Harry: No.

Lloyd: Five to one.

Harry: No.

Lloyd: Ten to one?

Harry: You're on!

Lloyd: I'm gonna get ya!

Harry: Nu uh!

Lloyd: I don't know how but I'm gonna get ya.

The purpose of our Christian lives is to teach the Love of Christ not only to our fellow Christians but to the non-believer. And Christ said that a person who causes one of His children to sin would be better off tying a stone around his neck and jumping into the sea.

We are to keep one another in the fold not to make an outcast of our brothers/sisters by condemnation. God loves the author of this article. He loathes hatred and cruelty.

And Jesus said "Get behind me Satan."

Clearly you've never read Matthew 18:15-17 or 1 Corinthians 5:9-12. Just for clarification, are you agreeing with the author of the article? And when we see a fellow Christian in error, what do you propose should be done?

Well most certainly we should not speak to them in any form that is other than out of love. Do I agree with the author? In some aspects I do. But mostly what I agree with is that he spoke from his heart to be true for him. His words were not condeming and his intention was not to have people cast stones.

What I am not in agreement with is the form in which you state your opinion. Dumb and Dumber? That certainly was not words that came from prayer or the Lord.

And I have read those verses. Never did I see any scripture that said we have a right to be cruel.

You are violating your own belief in responding to me. For one, your accusation (yes, that's what it is) that my post did not come from prayer or the Lord could be considered cruel....particularly since this is a judgment made about my heart. What is wrong with quoting Dumb and Dumber? It was a light-hearted example of foolishness and shows how a person violates their own belief without even recognizing it, and even while still defending their belief. Which is exactly what you are doing I might add :) Oh the irony.

So I will rescind my opinion that your Dumb and Dumber example was cruel and take you at your word that it was simply foolishness and meant to be a light hearted example. I was not trying to get into a debate about it. I was stating what I saw as an attempt to ridicule a fellow Christian.

God knows the hearts of ALL men/women. I personally found it offensive the example of Dumb and Dumber. But then I found the foolishness of the movie offensive also.

I guess where I was offended was not in your opinion of the article but the way in which you presented your opinion. Jesus would have NEVER spoken to the author in the manner in which you did. He would have shown him with love where his opinions/thoughts/feelings from his heart were in error and would have continued to love him in spite of his error.

We are to always love one another. Remember Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul and love your neighbors as you love yourselves.

I apologize for any offense I may have caused you with what I wrote to you. And may God Bless you this entire day, Tess

:)

Listen, niceness has its place, and there are times it doesn't. Christianity isn't all lovey dovey. You don't get killed for what you believe in unless it offends a few people. Doesn't mean we have to be offensive, just truthful. Often when we try to be "nice" or "loving" we sugar coat the truth to where its sting is lost, and without sting there is no conviction.

First of all I never claimed "lovey dovey" as the teaching of Christ, I claimed love as the teaching.

If you read what was said in my first reply you would have seen no niceness there. Nor did I claim that Jesus was always "nice" when he rebuked. He never showed hatred to a person(s) just the action of the person(s).

Your statement of Christianity isn't all lovey dovey is correct. I've seen a lot of very unlovey dovey Christians. But then Jesus didn't ask for "lovey dovey" did he. He asked, no He commanded love. And we are to correct with love in our hearts. And show it through our actions and words.

I am not however going to carry on about the difference between nice and "lovey dovey". Because it seems to me that the way you formed those words was meant to be sarcastic toward me instead of showing me by example of love.

1 Cor 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, itis not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking it is not easily angered, it keeps no record ofwrongs6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.7 It always protects, aslways trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Have a blessed day. :)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
