I pledge my loyalty to God alone. America can't save me from---anything.

America is not my idol.

LIFT HIGH THE LORD OUR BANNER!!

Blessings

Coming from a long line of family participation in wars

I am proud to be an American and of my fellow American's

who enlist. At this time my little brother is over seas serving

and I know the Lord is watching over him. I know that our

church often prays for those over seas and has shown great

charity in helping the families left behind. I do hold God first

and foremost in my life and do not feel my patriotism conflicts

with my serving the Lord!

God Bless!

Patriotic means you love our country..nothing wrong with that ....

unless you Idolize it instead of loving it...

I am proud of this country and what she stands for ..

I thank God He allowed me the privilege of being here..

We are immensely blessed in this US of A..

I personally know nothing of activism..can't comment on it...

I guess what it comes down to is whether it is godly to pledge/vow/make an oath/promise one's allegiance/loyalty/commitment/faithfulness to a world government system . . . and . . . if you do . . . can you break such a vow without sinning?

In the "Pledge of Allegiance" there is no stipulation of contingency; it is simply a vow of one

there is scripture supporting God being against patriotism... John 17:15-16 Jesus says they (his followers) are no part of the world just as I am no part of the world. Jesus as well as Paul spoke on remaining in subjection to secular authority because for now God allows man to govern the world but Jesus said be no part of it. there are more scriptures to support this as well...

How would you define "world"? Is it the enemy organized in opposistion to the Kingdom of God?

the world or earth many times in the bible requires context clues of the scripture in question as well as the context used for the same word or phrase in related scriptures...

Act 22:27 Then the chief captain came, and said unto him, Tell me, art thou a Roman? He said, Yea.

Act 22:28 And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born.

Just as Paul was a Roman...I am an American..

the world or earth in context to the original question as well as the scripture means organization or people, a system or established government... 1John 5:19 says "the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one (satan). John 14:30 says "the ruler of the world is coming. and he has no hold on me" luke 4:5-6 speaks of the devil moments after Jesus' baptism "so he brought him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the inhabited earth in an instant of time; and the devil said to him: I will give you all this authority and the glory of them, because it has been delivered to me, and to whom ever I wish I give it".... clearly then satan rules this world for now, and as long as he does its human rulers repond without knowledge of doing so to its ruler the dragon, satan the devil...

Not aligning ourselves with the world is a viable argument, because there are many things that democracy ask us to accept that our faith will not accept. But I beleive the stronger argument about patriotism is citizenship. Am I a citizen of this world?

These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them. Hebrews 11:13-16 NKJV

Is this worth discussing?
