I tremble when I'm about to face a huge obsticle that seems overwhelming, if that's what it means to tremble in the Lord I don't know. It's like, I feel such a shakiness in my spirit that I have to go to God to get peace and let Him work out whatever it is in my life that's causing me to fear.

Is that sort of thing what Paul meant when he wrote 'Work out your salvation with fear and trembling'?

It could be. I think there are deeper implications though that Paul was refering to. I'm just not sure how to put it into words.

You mentioned a huge obstacle that causes fear. Surely that could not have been Paul's wish for us. Surely Christians properly fear nothing and no-one, unless it is God (and his duly appointed representatives, such as the police). Who or what can a Christian legitimately be in fear of, unless it is God?

Excellent point. I'll meditate on your words of wisdom.

Hmm, last time I trembled I was climbing up a 300' rock face (I have a terrible fear of heights) does that count?

with or with out climbing gear??????

hopefully with, for if you was trembling with out climbing gear, might have caused a 7.0 tremor... lol

when i am scared, i do not shake nor tremble, it is when i get angry that i start trembling, the more anger the fills me, the more i shake trying to contain it....there are only three people that have pushed me to where i could no longer hold it, one got a black eye, busted/bloodied nose, and busted tooth, and was dazed for a while (three hits), another lost his dinner, as well as his lunch and breakfast....the other is in jail....

I do thank the Lord for giving me the strength to with stand a lot of heat..... i have not been in the trembling mode for many years...... ThankYou Lord....

This is odd. Paul commands that faith is worked out with fear and trembling. :th_praying:

That is for you to think about. Paul commanded it.

Maybe you should read the thread.

do you think maybe that the meaning behind the word would be more of respect/reverance?

do you think maybe that the meaning might be more in line with love?

how do I work out my faith? i either believe or i do not believe, there is no middle ground.

I believe, and my faith is that of Christ. how do I work that out? either I have it, or I don't, and if I have it, then it should be growing...

a person that says they are the same today as they were yesterday, is actually dying, a person is either growing or dying.... moving ahead or moving behind..... a person staying still is growing "stagnate" a pond that is stagnate is dying, becoming a stentch, rotting....

yes, seeking the Lord, and more of the Lord is a painful event, a time where we are stretching our spirit to contain more of the Spirit of the Lord, like our stomach, if we starve ourselves, our stomach shrinks, and we are unable to take in very much food, if we continually eat, we are able to stretch our stomachs out, so that it can receive more food, the more we eat, the more it stretches.... and as we stretch it, it becomes painful, and we groan under the presure.... also, if we deside to fast, we allow our stomachs to shrink, and for a short time this too is painful, until it gets use to not having anything in it, then the pain will subside, and we will actually get to the point that we do not want anything to eat..... this also happens spiritually......

now,

do I fear my dad? ( my biological father ).....

no, i do however have a very deep respect for him. at one time, i did fear him with every ounce of my being, but as our relationship grew, that fear departed and became respect. our relationship is such, that i have no problem taking anything to my dad, even when i did stuff that was totally against the rules.... that fear i use to have, was something that i had to overcome, and it took alot of courage to stand up and face my dad, and suck up the desire to run and hide. our relationship changed the day i did something i had been told hundreds of times not to do..... THOU SHALT NOT....... and one day while doing what i was told THOU SHALT NOT, i broke the item the Thou Shalt Not use.....

I knew what was instore, for we (I) had been this way before, and i knew that it ment i would not be sitting at the table for dinner for a week......nope, not missing dinner, and not eating by my self, but standing at the table and eating with the rest of the family, not because there was no chair, but because i knew i would not be able to sit, not even in school....

I was scared, I feared my dad. I wanted to run and hide, probably simular to the way that Adam and Eve felt when they realized what they had done.

"Mom", said me

"Yes" said she, as she is preparing dinner.

"Where's dad?"

"Out front, checking the cars over before dinner"

with head half hung out the door, and feet in flight ready stance, "Dad?!?!"

"Yea, whacha need?"

"Ummmm, you know that thing you told us not to use?"

"yea"

"Well, ummmm, I used it, and ummmm it broke" preparing to take evasive manuvers, i duck inside the door and close it just far enough i can still hear him.

"ok, will talk about it later"

for a week after this incident, i waited, i dreaded the day, the time that dad and me would talk about this..... then i saw dad look at it, and then he took it to the shed, and found a spot for it on a shelf, and laid it there. to this day, it is still in the family, not in the shed anymore, but on a good shelf in the basement in the wood working shop. I see it every time i visit and remember the grace dad showed me, and remember the time we started building a relationship together, and the fear i use to have for him and the respect i now have. a respect i would not trade for the world the love of a man, that did not know the love of a father and son until we (my sister and brother, and then half brother)

you see, dad did not know his father, and did not have a relationship with him. dad knew abuse, and then did not have his father in his teen years....

the fear that people think we are suppose to have for the Lord is not unlike this, we are afraid of what the penalties will be, but we forget that we have had our sins exsponged, totally wiped clean.

we are to respect the Lord, Reverance the Lord, Honor the Lord, Worship the Lord. I love the Lord enough that I will Keep His Commandments.... not out of duty, but out of LOVE......

as far as working out my salvation, Christ done did the work.

as far as travailing in prayer, this I do..........

anyways, maybe you and i do not see things the same way.....

I do love the Lord, and I do spend time with Him the majority of every day....

you may even ask how that can be possible, believe me, i do spend lots and lots of time with Him.

the relationship between the Lord and me is wonderful, and I still want more... more and more....

I thrive to be in the Lords presence.....

Respectfully yours....

mike

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
