Our practice is consistent with that of the historic, orthodox, catholic church, with the teaching of the OT and with the explicit teaching and actions of our Lord Jesus.

What proof do you have that Jesus ever taught or acted out YOUR practice? Your PRACTICE is consistent with the pervasive thinking that was established through the ages, finely honed and crafted hatred toward women. Literal, and blatant hate messages handed down from generation to generation, to this very day! These things are so very hard to get out of culture, but the church has had the opportunity to turn it around--such brave men and women, turning the tide--and their great strides are continuing today! Thank God for that! It isn't all finished and I don't expect it to be until the Lord returns, but things are changing! We are returning slowly and surely to the New Testament church! Ahh glory!

When Paul instructed men and women (some think husbands and wives were specifically in view) in his churches (see also 1 Cor 11:2-16; 14:33-35), the immediate problem was disturbances in the worship service. On the one hand, changing attitudes about the man-woman relationship led women to assert themselves in the worship service in ways that threatened unity and perhaps also reflected a disregard for biblical and cultural distinctions between men and women. Disruptions by women included inquiring about the meaning of prophecies (1 Cor 14:33-35) and teaching men (1 Tim 2:11-12). But the present passage also reveals that the anger and arguments of some men were contributing to the disruption of the church's worship service.

If it were temporary, perhaps you could give us a verse showing the temporary conditions that Paul was writing about. As for "wrongfully usurping" his authority, could you show me in the Greek where this connotation can be drawn? Or even in the context.

Stop using rhetoric and actually put meat (facts, logical interpretation, etc) to your arguments.

AK--take some of your own advice. This is not rhetoric. There are actually other scholars out there who have a different opinion than yourself, based upon scripture. I thank my God for them.

Why should I when there is nothing but rhetoric posted? There is nothing of substance, even in the commentary that I read, that provides any form of meat.

Once again, those who have no leg to stand on rely on rhetoric because facts are just too darn hard to come by.
