paulo, how many NT scriptures have been posted in this thread? are you just in denial that the NT is equally as opposed to homosexual behaviour as the OT is?

secondeve,

I have seen you vehemently defend the gay/lesbian community in numerous posts.

If you don't mind me asking...are you a lesbian?

No I don't think she is but I find a lot of Christians who defend the lifestyle. I don't know know how they can especially when they read the word of God and believe what He says on the matter Leviticus 18:22 and in Romans the first chapter verses 27 and in 1st Corinthians Chapter 6 verse 9. But yet they still defend the practice of the gay lifestyle. So much in scripture and it's always ignored by a handful of liberal christians. I'm sorry if it sounds harsh but I think God is getting sick of His people looking the other way on such matters.

rusty, they do because they're more worried about how they'll look to the people of this world than to the creator of it.

a learned pattern of behaviour to attract those we want to attract. very much the same way a promiscuous woman will behave in a way that attracts men of unsavory character. God addressed this issue specifically, condemning those who dressed, act, and spoke in an effiminate manner.

Then please answer me this:

Many homosexuals tend to have a certain demeanor about them. Many gay men, in particular, are very flamboyant, or have a certain way of speaking. Since this seems to be a common trait among them, then what is it if not natural?

It's an "affectation":

1. an effort to appear to have a quality not really or fully possessed; the pretense of actual possession: an affectation of interest in art; affectation of great wealth.

2. conspicuous artificiality of manner or appearance; effort to attract notice by pretense, assumption, or any assumed peculiarity.

3. a trait, action, or expression characterized by such artificiality: a man of a thousand affectations.

what command does it break? i take it you haven't read scripture, which indicates in many passages both old and new testament that God finds homosexuality an abomination and that those who continue to practice it without repentance will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

what does that matter? nothing to those who don't care i suppose. but it matters greatly to those who desire to know God, serve God, and live eternally with God.

I know that gayness as a sin is mentioned in Leviticus and (I think) Deuteronomy and Isiah - I'm not going to dispute that. But it would be interesting to know what reason, if any, the Bible gives for it being evil.

This might seem an odd question, so I suppose I'll have to clarify. Murder is bad because it harms someone other than the perpetrator, ie: the victim. It is therefore practical to rule against it. The same goes for theft, lying and adultery. Regardless of whether or not you believe in God, there are commonsense reasons for why these things are harmful to a society. Sex outside of marriage is - to me - a greyer area than these. With exceptions of rape, it doesn't hurt the two willing participants - but in certain societies, stigma and the possibility of being an unwed mother, where these things can be harmful or difficult, would make the law a reasonable precaution. One can believe that marriage is the only fit instutition for sex without believing in God, because all cultures have some concept of it. Still, in societies where those stigmas don't exist and where contraception is available, the single remaining imperative is to obey God; and if God does not exist, then the command is no longer logical or commonsensical.

Then we have homosexuality. Unless in cases of rape, it hurts nobody. There can be no unwanted children - which leaves the only imperative not to practise it at "God says it's morally bad" and "God says you should only have sex in marriage." So, I suppose I'm wondering if the Bible offers up any reasons apart from these as to why it's bad - ie, reasons which might apply, with commonsense, in a secular context as well as a Christian one.

What I find interesting, is who quickly one tends to support "Homosexuality" or accepts it merely because the secular world embraces it. Or a friend, relative or loved one can't or won't make an effort to be released from it. To say it has no visual effects on the world is like viewing it with blinders. As with any of the other commands/sins that God tells us to avoid. Finally, there are more than a few scriptures/versus that address homosexuality. You only need to review your index in the rear of your King James Version Bible and they will be located under "unclean sex," "immoral sex," "fornication." You have to remember, when the Bible was originated the term "homosexuality" was not created or made aware of as yet. It's only very recent in time that this term was known. But make no mistake about it. Homosexuality, and sexual lusting, desires and pleasures have destroyed many cities and God responds with great anger when it gets out of control. There is no mistaking God's views on the subject. HE SAYS NO! AND HE MEANS IT! And now many churches are molding their beliefs around the sin rather than the world molding themselves around the Bible and God!

As for the children, and I'm quite sure there are many cases that can prove genetic disorders, how does anyone know if a child was not abused at a very early age? There are always siblings/relatives around to abuse for their own pleasurable sins. Sins that they will pay dearly for. As many of them have brought many of the youth into an abominable sin that they may find impossible to get out of.

Blessings

A friend of mine is gay. And no, there wasn't a choice in his case. His parents tried to force him into a straight marriage. It didn't work. He found straight sex to be disgusting. We are talking about congenital-aberrant behaviour. Serial killers don't CHOOSE to be serial killers. They just are.

Your friend needs serious counselliong and deliverance. So do serial killers. Odd that you would compare the two wickednesses.

I'd be curious to see how many people on these boards actually know any gays and lesbians? I would think that first hand exposure would weigh on your opinion.

Hopefully a Christian's view would be that of God's no matter what attempts to taint it would come along.

LOL, i'd like to know how many of us DONT know a gay or lesbian!

i have a cousin who died of aids. yes, he was gay. i have another cousin who is alive and well, and very successful, who lives with his gay lover. for the record, he is opposed to gay marriage rights. in my younger days when i was single, i had a number of roommates over the years. i had two different roommates who were both lesbian. they knew my position on homosexuality, and they were still close friends with me.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
