Of all the back and forth on what seems to be a very touchy subject, I just wanted to chat about my aforementioned friend (and no, it's not me lol).

Her name is "Kelly". She's a music teacher, teaching young kids, all the way up to adults. She's great with all of them - very patient, and does her teaching in a very loving and nurturing style. Her professional life also transcends into her personal one. She volunteers at the animal hospital twice a week, as well as putting time at the hospital working with the senior citizens. In my eyes, she's the ultimate humanitarian.

She's also gay. And yes, she believes is Christ.

Now my whole problem with all of the anti-gay posts on this thread is this: we are all going to be judged. Are there passages in the Bible that condemn homosexuality? There seem to be. However, as I stated, they could just as easily be misinterpreted just as anything else in life. I don't doubt that the Bible is the word of God. A word that has, no matter how you look at it, been written down by man. And man makes mistakes.

I just mentioned the judgement. I told the story of Kelly to make a point. That being, she's a very loving, caring humanitarian. She works for people - for God's children. No one - not me, or anyone on these boards - can say what God will tell her on her judgement day. If being gay is a sin, then I would like to think that all of the good she does outweighs the bad. Anything else would be completely unfair.

Paulo, you can't claim to accept the Truth of God's word, or even the Divinity of Christ, and hold to the premise that whoever wrote scripture may have made a "mistake" at every passage you're personally uncomfortable with.

We know by Scripture that, though our "good" and "bad" deeds will be judged, our entrance to the Kingdom will not be based upon those things. The idea that God is "unfair" because He doesn't base Justice on how many "nice things" we do is ludicrous, and borders on blasphemy.

I'm sure your friend is a great person, but if she persists in giving into temptation, she is a sinner. This doesn't make her a bad human being, but she does need to repent of her sin and ask God for strength to overcome. I can certainly understand being bound, and even being tempted beyond, it would SEEM, what I can handle. But the Bible tells me that through Christ, I can do all things. I don't blame my sin on my "nature" or on how "God made me". Temptation is there because it's there. It's our duty to overcome through Christ, not to make excuses for giving in.

Romans 7:7-25 is a good example of our "nature" and how not to let it overcome us. :emot-hug:

Mercy! Mercy!

And having an high priest over the house of God;

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Hebrews 10:21-31

He Is Worthy

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

All homosexual activities is a choice. There is no such thing as being born homosexual.

Well, I'll say it again... that's flawed logic. If it's a "choice" then everyone had to choose, meaning that we all had to choose to be straight as well.

Actually, -that's- flawed logic. My hair is dark brown. It was made that way. If it is blonde, it's because I chose for it to be blonde, and dyed it that way. I didn't choose for it to be brown -- it is.

Then you wouldn't choose to be gay either. :emot-questioned:

-I- wouldn't. No. As I said before (and other as well), the -feeling- is what we call temptation. We make a choice as to whether or not we're going to give in. You've never been tempted to be gay -- bravo! Neither have I. Others are, and some give in.

It is lucky to never have had those feelings and temptations and we who haven't should be grateful for that. That's why I feel very sorry for people who've been caught in the trap of popular opinion, especially when it's society giving excuses to commit an abominable act, because when they wake up and realize what it is they're trapped in and how hard it is to get out, they're going to be furious with society. Sometimes people aren't made aware until they're about to die and then it's too late.

no paulo, you're logic is flawed. in fact, it's beyond flawed because you're not looking at anything with logic. you're looking at it with kneejerk reaction based on emotional feelings.

the statement was that all homosexual ACTIVITY is a choice. you aren't born having sex with anyone of any gender. even IF (which i absolutely disbelieve) a person was "born gay", they still have a choice whether to have sexual relations with someone.

period.

as humans, we are all born as sexual beings. there is no doubt about that. none whatsoever. yet being born a heterosexual does NOT excuse a straight person for acting on their sexuality in inappropriate ways or at inappropriate times, etc. in short, we have the CHOICE to keep our zippers up.

for you to insist that a gay person doesn't have the same choice to keep THEIR zipper up is just plain absurd.

People HAVE overcome homosexuality so that is a broad blanket you're laying out there.

People go to jail for rape and crimes against children. As it should be. Those are two entirely different topics.

One is forcing your perversion on someone else and one is being caught up in a your own sexual problems.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
