Hello? :P Is there anyone who could spare a few words to clue a girl in? What in the world is the Toronto Blessing? :whistling:

Ok, Billie...sorry....the only advice I can really give you is what you gave me the other day...do a search of the toronto blessing and you will hopefully find what I am talking about... I can't say for sure, because I have not done a search on the subject for a long time...

But basically, it is a supposed spiritual revival, where members of the congregation perform such things as rolling in the aisles in hysterical laughter, barking like dogs, etc, and all this supposedly under the annointing of God's Spirit.

This seems to be infectious towards anyone who comes in contact with it, including the pastors of my church, who went to Toronto and came back singing the praises of it. I am VERY wary. A LOT of people have left my church because of it, which I myself see as an 'alien' doctrine.

please enlighten me, somebody

What more enlightening to do you need? None of this has anything to do with the Christian faith. What about these hoaxes make you believe they are the work of anyone other than the devil and his allies? Of course, this is the neo-pentacostal movement brought to its ultimate conclusion, pure emotionalism and mental manipulation. If your pastors are involved with it you should consider another church - pronto.

I'm very glad to be having the support of the members of this forum, it seems, regarding this. But why are the pastors, and associate pastors of my church succumbing to this, what I call deceptive nonsense? This is an issue which has deeply divided my church in recent years. Ok, I don't agree with the catholic and C of E style of church, which is staid, stagnant, etc, and do agree with freedom of worship, but where to draw the line? I despair, I really do.

Listen, in my opinion, the enemy in these days is more deceptive than we EVER gave him credit for. I know that Jesus is Lord of all. We must stand together to find a common ground for believing and speaking what we believe.

Yes, Stephen, unfortunately, your pastors have been decieved. I go to a nondenominational church, and our P&W is great, upbeat and joyful at times, soft and reverent at times. My pastor's made it clear these "Toronto" things aren't of God and we don't do those sorts of things in our church.

Respectfully disagree since you appear to be open to compromise to the truth of God's Word. I cannot stand together and find common ground with those who are in such error. People like Hinn use the term Jesus but it is not the Jesus of the Bible. His Jesus is nothing more than a genie from a bottle. Your pastors and associate pastors are deceived if they believe these things. At some point you must make a decision to either leave or risk making shipwreck of your own faith by staying.

Not correct, St.Worm.

I am very wary at all times regarding these things. It's just that sometimes I seem to be in the minority here regarding these things. I left the church in question, a pentecostal, but am feeling very lonely and needy in recent months for fellowship of true Christians. Who is a true Christian nowadays?

Luther defined a true church as one where the gospel is preached and the sacraments are properly administered. I hesitate to get into a discussion in open forum about good churches and bad churches since it will turn into a free for all. If you wish to PM me I will try to help.

I do understand how you feel. When one has to leave a church that has fallen into bad doctrine often friends get left behind too and it can be verying trying.

None of the televangelists...that's for sure. I include Billy Graham.

no "fellowship" exists...start being a friend to the alien, to the dspossessed, to the widow, the orphan...Do you want as your inheriatnce the lost? Why go to try and find the found?

Go seek the lost...find true fellowship that way.

Please don't confuse the poster any further by implying a solid church and Christian fellowship are not of the ultimate importance for a believer. I don't know if you are one of the anti-church people that frequent this board but this is not the time for your agenda if so.

And I am not anti-church. The reasoning is this...If you seek out the lonely, and there is a church trying to seek out the lonely...you will find your place in a church that is trying to find the lonely people, like the widow, the orphan. Unfortunately, I have not seen ANY church fulfilling that mandate.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
