Yeah, I know it's a bit early to be preparing for Christmas . . . .

But I was just wondering what Christian albums (CD's, whatever) people have that they would recommend someone else to get.

I'm on a college student's budget, so I can't splurge on risks. (You know, some are just way more worth it than others. I want the the "way more worth it" list.)

Thanks!

Praise and worship.

I like most styles - anywhere from bluegrass to adult contemporary to pop and rock. I don't care for the Gospel and Urban styles so much, nor jazz.

Personally, for the hollidays, I prefer Kenny G's Miracles and Faith Christmas CD's. I also like Celine Dion's These Are Special Times album. You can buy these on eBay or Amazon.com at very reasonable prices. I would recommend going to Amazon.com to check out different Christmas CD's and check out people's ratings on those particular albums. They usually have good insight from other people's perspectives.

Oh but if I had the time to put in my usual reply! My friends call me fanatical about Christmas, and I guess I am.

If you are going to listen to music that touches the souls, get the old stuff! The newer groups and remakes of things are okay, but the Carpenters! - classic. Nat King Cole?! Soothing. The Charlie Brown's Christmas CD!!!

There was a special through Time Life Classics - 2 CD set. It is really worth it. They have all the good ones on there.

My favorite thing to do is find a radio station that will play oldies - usually it is only on Christmas Day now not the whole month of December  , and record on a tape or CD if you have a burner. So awesome!!!! I have tons of mixed tapes.

There is just something so special about this festive season. The lights, the smells of the season, all that good stuff.

Anyways, have a good night!

Feliz Navidad

Do you have a turntable still yet? If so, I can relate a few good titles that are very hard to find on CD.

Bill Anderson's Christmas Album (on CD, but side "2" is left off which is a beautiful poem about our Lord)

Twelve Days of Christmas-RCA Special Products LP. Has the Ames Brothers, John Gary, Eddy Arnold, The Cast of Bonanza and several others.

On CD, you must have Elvis Christmas and Brenda Lee. Unfortunately, Hank Williams never performed Christmas, so no Christmas is available from the best singer who ever lived!

I have probably close to 100 Christmas LP's, 10-12 cassettes and a big number of 8-tracks that are Christmas and love it when it gets close to Christmas. I generally start playing Christmas in late August!

something you might do.......

being that your budget kind of prohibits you from buying CD's, Tapes, and such just to find out if you Might like it,

go to the Bible book stores, and go to the music section, and sample them..... the ones around here ( except the outlet store ) have stations set up to listen to the music, to see if that is what you are looking for.....

some are set up on a press the picture of the CD and some are set up to listen to the actual CD or Tape.....

speaking of turntables... they are getting so rare, that i have not seen one in a store for quite some time... or for that matter, a continuous play tape deck ( that dont cost an arm and a leg, or even just the leg )

Hi Hazel! The P,P, & M albumn is awsome. Here's a link to Amazon which tells the songs etc.... Truly makes my holidays!

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00...=D1EZD75HRAWL6W

Hope you find a copy and enjoy!

River

ps.........just noticed on Amazon that you can hear snippets from the albumn too!

THANKS, Riv, I'm goin' there right now. BTW, I'm feeling your all's pain on the record player, I have PP&M's "Movin'" on LP, ( it's older than I am) and NO WAY TO PLAY IT!!! Nebula, Nicole C. Mullen's christmas album is excellant, I hear. I don't know how you could go wrong with her! Let me know what you find that's good, I'm on a tight budget this year, too. But I'd love to have some Christmas stuff by Christian artists. Recomendations do take out some of the risk! Oh yeah, for the "young at heart" (or of mind in my case), " A Very Veggie Christmas" is the way to go!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
