Divine inspiration of God carries through the translations! What kind of God would want the future Church to be informed by a watered-down Word? God is very capable of preserving His Word for this generation. People who believe that the scriptures we study today are not inspired are speaking heresy.

I have been called a heretic by the best of them, but you don't want to cross swords with me on this. Theology 101 is pretty simple on this. Here is a passge from my church's Statement of Essential and Fundamental Truths:

We believe that Almighty God has revealed all that is necessary for life and faith in the sixty-six books of the Holy Scripture, which are the Word of God. All Scripture was given by inspiration by God; that is, it is God-breathed as holy men of old wrote, being borne along by the Holy Spirit. The Scriptures are infallible and inerrant in the original writings and are the final arbiter in all disputes. Its authority is derived from its Author and not from the opinions of men. (Matthew 5:18; 24:35; John 10:35;16:12 13; 17:17; 1 Corinthians 2:7-14; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3: 15-17; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Revelation 1:1-3; 22:6,18-19)

We believe that the Bible is God

Interesting story:

I was listening to a missionary once, and he was part of a team that was ministering among a tribe in Africa. They were, among other things, attempting to translate the Bible into the language of this tribe. They came to the verse in Isaiah where it says, "Come let us reason together; though your sins be as scarlet, they shall become white as snow." Well the problem was that these people had never seen snow. There were no snow-capped mountains for them to observe, and so the missionaries were in a bit of quandry as to how to communicate this verse.

A day or so later, they found a flower that had both a solid white center and solid white petals. They asked the people what they called that flower. The missionaries used the name of that flower in the place of "snow" in order to get the biblical imagery across to the people.

Truth be told about the matter, there is no way you can read the bible without the bible reading you. Why? Because the book is alive, FOR REAL. You cannot search it out without it searching you out, and you can't come face to face with the Word, and save face all at the same time. The bible is a revealer of secrets, and that's including yours. it is written: Hebrews 10:7 - Then said I, Lo, I come in the volume of the book it is written of me, to do thy will, O God. What you hear when you read the Word has to do with whose will you are out to do....yours or the Lords. Different interpretations are not the problem if the common denominator remains the same who is Jesus :P of course. There is variety in unity, ya know?

As 'billielovesdarrin' says - it's the Holy Spirit!

1 Thessalonians 4:8 - "He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit."

yes, and whom does the Holy Spirit work through to give us ALL TRUTH?

Edited by moderator to remove attempt to steer discussion in the direction of Roman Catholic doctrine

Papist,

I did reply to that question - however it quite rightly was removed by one of the moderators. If you want to have a debate about the Roman Catholic doctrine - then I'll be more than happy to talk via PM or e-mail.

God Bless.

John 16:13

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.

Count on it.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
