My mother , before she went to the other side., had a problem with all of the glitter and gold of the tbn settings..... MAYBE SHE WAS RIGHT. It kinda of reminds me of a lot of churches that i have visited in the last thirty years.. LOTS OF GLITTER AND GOLD .... BUT NOTHING PAST THAT....... NO REAL SPIRITUAL DEPTH.

The best spiritual depth I have seen is the ones who are down in the trenches.. fighting the devil in hand to hand combat....... The war zones so to speak......

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].

Yea, trying going into missions in a third world country...and that's as far into the trenches as you can get.

Better yet, try it in a Muslim country....the spiritual warfare is so thick, you can cut it with a knife.

But, God has His people in all sorts of places, I suppose..even the glitter palaces.

Gosh, I thought originally that spoof with Pat Boone in the "Metal thingy" dress-up etc., was done to draw in a certain youth generation to Christianity!

I remember Pat Boone appearing on TBN trying to explain all that and apologizing. TBN had many viewers writing & calling in threatening to drop their pledges if TBN didn't drop Pat's show. I thought Pat's program was then dropped by mutual consent?? By himself, Paul Crouch and Pastor Jack Hayford-(acting as an advisor on the matter)?

I think Cooper is a Christian........that is a name you don't hear very often anymore

um . .probably not. he was in the paper a couple of days ago (an ad actually) saying that he had a concert up in a couple of days. he was wearing the same old super goth stuff and he had freaky things on stage (the picture on the ad). i also heard somoeone say marylin manson had changed too but i guess thats just rumour too since his new video show the exact opposite. it would be nice if those people changed but i think they are probably way in too deep.

It is not totally possible to judge the heart and motives based on externals. I heard Cooper has returned to his Christian roots (was a preacher's kid). It is hard to know the theatrical content/intents of his show without going to it or listening to his explanations. I suspect he has cleaned up his act. Regardless, let us pray for conviction to not compromise and for his spiritual growth.

Everything that I've heard about Alice Cooper's life of faith has been positive. Yes, he's the son of a Pentecostal preacher and his act was always theatrical.

I saw a biography on him and it was kind of ironic. He and his group were actually athletes who could play a little on some instruments and so they entered a battle of the bands and added the theatrical bit.

It was so well recieved that they decided to seriously form a band. These guys were all straight and narrow at the time but as they started becoming succesful, Vince Furnier began to "take on" the character of Alice Cooper.

He married a christian girl who was an actress (and has been married to her for 20+ years now) and she helped him get off of alchohol. He was addicted to Budweiser. According to the story that is all that he's ever had a problem with...beer.

Somewhere in the mid to late 90s, Alice Cooper (Vince Furnier) is on a plane seated next to R C Sproul and the conversation ends up with Vince RE-dedicating his life to the Lord.

He soon found out that there were christians who wanted to exalt him as a prize and make merchandise out of him...but to his credit he decided to shine where he was in the rock music biz. I've heard that he has a successful "ministry" (though he doesn't call it that publicly) of helping famous musicians get off of drugs and alchohol.

Think about it....who can talk to rock stars with any credibility but one of their own? Who could disrespect Alice in the rock world?

He is a good example of how God's people can work outside of the "establishment" IMO.

Pam got me to thinking-I believe it was a mutual parting, but he was supposed to come back on sometime in the future after things settled down and never did and I read an article or something that placed the blame on TBN. Who knows?
