What does "Halloween" came from?

Hiya all, I just confused what does "Halloween" came from? I heard some were told it was a unchristian's festival. And what countries used to celebrate of it? I just want to get more understanding of this festival's background, what does it stand for?

I think there are many websites dealing with this. In a nutshell, I think the holiday was originally pagan. The Christians adopted it with a Christian emphasis to counter its pagan origins. All-Hallowed Eve (?) had something to do with saints. Was it the Celtics or occultists who started the original holiday over 2000 years ago? There certainly are demonic overtones, and is a high occult holiday.

Check your local newspaper. They often have articles about its origin.

I was thinking, though not certain, it was originally a Christian holiday that got adapted by pagans (sorta like Christmas in reverse?) and due to that fact, Christians moved the holiday to November 1 to keep the two from being associated. Maybe someone will come along to help shortly!

I think you two are right. It was originally a day to celebrate the saints. Then, there was "all hallows eve" and that night, you were to do things that supposedly warded off evil spirits - putting out Jack O' lanterns was one of them. Yes, that has been turned into a lot of "witch" and "black cat" stuff in modern day and the original meanings of the day are all gone. Same as Christmas.

Well, last night I made it my business to glorify God during the "holiday".

I sat out and passed out lovely tracts with a sweet prayer on it called, "A Father's Love" as well as candy treats to the little children.

One little boy dressed as Dracula asked me, "What's that?"

I said, "It's a prayer that tells you how much God loves you."

He smiled and said, "Oh, thank you!" and gave me a BIG hug. I was so surprised by his reaction. I felt this joy just fill my whole being.

The tracts were well recieved. When people asked what they were, I told them they were about how much God loves them. I was surprised at how well received the tracts were. I got alot of smiles.

I also carved a big cross in a shelled out pumpkin and lit it. I wanted to use the night to glorify and honor God despite everything.

I just never expected to get a BIG ol' hug from a little "vampire"...LOL!

Hi, Teh...great to 'see' you again! LOL!

I had so much fun on Halloween, I can't wait till next year! I felt so much love flowing from me on Halloween night. I wanted to see how many people I could make smile...and wanted everyone to know that Christian's live at our house and those "Christians" are so full of love and kindness...the light just pours out all over.

Ya'll, I don't condone "Halloween" but I just can't find it in my heart to hide away in the shadows when I could be out shining God's love to lost people.

I decided to just give the whole night to the glory of our Father. And I prayed about this first. Then, I followed with just "loving" people. I greeted parents with big smiles and complimentary statements about their children; I smiled and made eye contact with the children and asked them if they were having fun...and just talked to them.

They all seemed thrilled that someone was interested in them.

That's shining Jesus, IMO. I want people to see Him in me, so I've taken advantage of Halloween and made it a night to turn Satan's plans upside down.

The "Druids" were mentioned in the articles passed on to you, and it is important for you to know the role they played in respect to your question. Hillson, they were some of the most evil people in the history of the British Isles, Scotland and Ireland. They were known as the "Men of Oak", and demanded human blood sacrifices. These men were filled with demons, and people lived in fear of them. They would burn male slaves or Roman soldiers alive in cages over barren (solid) ground. They would call forth "elfin fire" out of the earth to consume the victims. I personally believe it was an imitation of fire being called down from Heaven such as Elijah the Prophet did in First Kings Chapter 18. The only exception....this DIDN'T come from our FATHER in Heaven....it came from Satan.

Their big night was HALLOWEEN. In the occult it is called "SAMHAIN" (October 31st). What you see nowadays with the little kids running from door-to-door yelling "Trick or Treat" had its origin with the Druids. It's fun for the kids today, but in the times of the Druids it was a night of terror. On HALLOWEEN the Druids and their followers went from castle to castle and serf to serf playing "Trick or Treat". The "Treat" from the castle demanded by the Druids would be a princess OR some woman for human sacrifice.

If the "Treat" pleased the Druids they would leave a "JACK O' LANTERN" with a LIGHTED CANDLE made of human fat to protect those inside from being killed by demons that night. When some unfortunate person couldn't meet the demands of the Druids, then it was time for the "Trick". A HEXAGRAM was drawn on the front door. That night Satan or his demons would kill someone in THAT HOME through fear.

The victim ("Treat") to be sacrificed that night would be assaulted and brutally sacrificed by the Druids to the "god" of many names....."The Horned Hunter of the Night", "Kernos - the Oak god of the Underworld", "The god of the Dead". None other than Satan himself.
