I need some advice on how to get rid of strongholds. But first I need to know how to be baptized in the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues. I believe that I don't have the power to get rid of these strongholds because I haven't been baptized in the Holy Spirit. Yes, I am saved, but I don't think I have been filled with the Holy Spirit. I pray for deliverence, but maybe I'm not saying the right prayers. Can someone give me advice. Everytime I seem to be getting closer to God, meaning I can feel his presence and hear his voice, something always happens in my life to somehow make me doubt that I am not worthy.

Do you know people in your location that pray in the spirit? Get with some believers who have this gift and they can help you. Find a church that is supportive in the gifts and that you can grow in. But also remember, Jesus said where two or three are gathered in my name...I am in the midst. You can ask him to deliver you from this by the power of agreement.

My ten yr old daughter just recently (1 week ago received the gift of praying in tongues). I explained to her that this was for her...not to misuse, or feel she has magic powers, but that the Holy Spirit would pray through her the most perfect prayers and build her up to who God had intended her to be. Make sure to have a good understanding of the gifts....

I don't know anyone who does that, but I do have friends who will be willing to gather with me and pray. I am sort a ashamed, because I don't know what will happen. I read that sometime embarassing things can happen when going through a deliverence. Will this be sort of like a deliverence??

You might find some of Neil Anderson's books helpful eg "The Bondage Breaker" and others.

When we receive Jesus into our hearts, we receive his Holy Spirit. I believe that is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. There is that scripture that states "don't you know that when you were baptized into Christ that you were baptized into his death?" (Rom 6:3). I believe that is the baptism of the Holy Spirit, because it is the Holy Spirit who baptizes us into the body of Christ (I Co. 12:13).

Also, there is no scriptural doctrinal evidence that says that the gift of tongues is the evidence of the infilling of the Holy Spirit. There are historical passages where believers were given the gift of tongues when they were empowered with the Holy Spirit, but the scriptures are clear to teach that not everyone has the same gifts and that the least of the gifts is the gift of tongues and that we should rather desire the gift of prophecy, which is one of the greater gifts.

As far as evidence of the filling of the Holy Spirit, I would look at Galatians 5:22-26. And, if you want to know how to be filled with the Spirit, I would read and put into practice Ephesians 4 through 5:20 - being filled with the Spirit is a continual process of putting off the deeds of the flesh and putting on godliness. There is a whole list of what to put off and what to put on. That is how one becomes filled with the Spirit. And, that is how one is released from strongholds.

I feel led to say that perhaps you are keeping yourself from knowing God better without knowing that you are doing so...perhaps you are afraid of what may happen when you bring God fully into your life. Pray and ask for His guidance on this...and don't be afraid to completely open your heart to him. Praying for you :thumbsup:

Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house. 

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
