Hello all,

It is my first post :emot-highfive:

I want your thoughts on this:

Do you feel that because your parents may have supported you when you were younger, that you "owe" it to them to support them now?

(Pay the bills they run up etc, just because they did it for you when you were younger and unable to work)

Thanks.

2 Corinthians 9: 7Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

I do believe we should honor our parents to live long upon the earth , as the Bible says.

I do believe we should (joyfully, get our hearts right with God )give to our parents and help them. Look at what Jesus said to the Phrasees about how they treated their parents. He had strong words about that. Thier refusing, etc.

But, if you are talking about running up needless credit card material things over and over habitual stuff lke that, there comes a point that kind of thing needs curtailed to a better budgetting. That can be really stressful and not at all affordable for anyone involved.

But, yes, we do need to give to our parents and help them , especially if they are elderly and we can see their need.

What good is what I have if I cannot give to the ones who birthed me and raised me? But , God did not say if they raised me or not, just IF they ARE my parents! Unconditional love is like that in Jesus in us, no matter how or whom our parents are.

Pray and let GOD lead you, The Holy Spirit will tell you ONLY TRUTH IN what to do. ( I can't tell you , I don't know your entire situation and infact , it is better that you allow GOD to lead you in all things and righteousness )

Read the Bible and let Him Speak to you also.

Please pray for your parents and their needs daily also.

Ask God to show you your own heart and be willing to make any changes He shows you, HE is wanting only good.

If need be for it, may have to comunicate and talk it out better with your parents.

If you have two, give them one.

best to you,

elkie

PS Morutea, smile.gif

I hope you understood my meaning in my post to you.

I was not talking about over dependance or dysfunctional family things at all here, nor of demanding parents. But, of family in need.

A matter of heart for God and family. We ask of God to show us our hearts , to provide and help our families and ourselves and others. I believe we can trust God to provide and to show us our hearts and to help us to know what is wise in all things.

Blessings,

elkie

Hi spunky,

That is turning what I am saying around backwards.

I wrote not as a parent. But , as how I feel as a child about my parents and my husbands parents, even my daughter in laws parents. Talkin' family.

I would not add unnecessary burden to my children, and I want to see them build their family futures (nd am seeeing this happen, praise The Lord!, all that is good comes from HIS HAND) and honestly, I am wanting to give more to my children as well as my paretns. Don't like to write it cuz I am not bragging, it is my hearts desire, but to clarify, seems needed now ( sighs )in here.........

My children don't support me fiancially. But, they always give their love and they do ask and see if we are fine fiancially as well as in every way (they are interestred in us as we are in them) and that is the heart of matters I was talking about. From the childs view, not from a view of parents DEMANDING of their children. NOT at all.

Hope that makes it a little clearer.

But, honestly, if we have elderly parents or see our parents in need. And even then, where is the love of family not to want to help our own parents?

Talking about well, this might say it better...people see what we do. GOD sees WHY we do it.

take care,

elkie

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
