The apparitions of Mary around the world are saying THAT IF YOU SHOW DEVOTION TO HERSELF(MARY), Salvation is promised!! It does not matter to me if Catholics are buying into this idea, or if Protestants are buying into this idea!

It is a doctrine of SATAN himself!!

Go re-read my post of what the Marian apparitions of Fatima are saying, they are a Satanic deception to draw people away from a SINGLE minded devotion to Christ! :)

There is ony one intercessor between God and men, JESUS CHRIST is His name!!

Only Christ Saves

Every single thing contained in the Bible is doctrine, that's why there were 2 Synods (Synod of Hippo in 393 and the Synod of Carthage in 407) and 1 council (Council of Florence in 1442) dedicated to choosing the right books to conform Bible, both Old Testament and New Testament.

No, not everything in the Bible is docrine. You are applying sloppy hermeneutics. The passage in 1 Kings 2:13-19 is a narrative passage. If it were doctrine, the Bible itself would refer back to it as such. The Bible in the NT would have made reference to it. It does not. Nothing in the NT says that this is a picture of Mary interceding for Christians. There are two kinds of scripture: Prescriptive and Descriptive. 1Kings 2:13-19 is descriptive. It tells what happened It is just a narrative passage. There is nothing in the Word of God that sets it up as applicable to NT believers. You cannot just take a passage and apply it any way you want. There are rules to interpreting Scripture. You cannot label anything you want as "doctrine."

To say that "every single thing contained in the Bible is doctrine" is very short sighted. 90% of the book of Job is nothing but Job's three friends offering him their "counsel." God responded that every statement made by Job's friends was incorrect. Therefore, the text that contains the remarks made by three of Job's friends cannot be considered doctrine.

So, to use 1 Kings 2 as proof that Mary is our intercessor is just plain bad theology, and you are incorrectly dividing the Word of God.

Mobile, when I was growing up in the south many decades ago I can remember preacher preaching that Catholics worshipped Mary. I don't know how any of them would have known this since none of them had ever stepped foot in a Catholic church, there weren't even any Catholic churches around and there weren't any Catholics in our town. But, nevertheless, we were taught that Catholics didn't worship Jesus and that they were all going to hell. The only contact we had with Catholics or the Catholic religion was what was portrayed on T.V. As a teenager I remember asking my mother why Catholic were always making the sign of the cross, covered their head like the Bible said to do (women), wore crusifixes all the time, believed people could be possessed and actually did exorcisms, and why did the encylopedia at the school library say that the Catholic church was the largest branch of Christianity on earth. I don't recall her having an answer, and getting downright annoyed when I pressed her for an answer. I was still too scared to investigate it too much. Not wanting to go to hell and all.

Anyway, I've only been at this forum for a few days and I can see all ready that many others here have been taught or should I just say the obvious, brainwashed, the way I was. You're wasting your breath with most. I don't know if I'll hang around here for long or not. And I'm not even Catholic. But, I did recently start saying the rosary (internet instructions), something I never thought I'd ever do. Who says an old dog can't learn new and wonderful things.

It's a great thing you are praying the rosary. I recommend, after every decade, to repeat the prayer that was revealed in Fatima in 1917:

"O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fire of hell, take all souls to heaven, and help especially those most in need of your mercy."

The most outstanding thing about this little prayer is that it truly reflects how our "modern way of life" has lost so many unaware souls, and how Jesus is willing to help us defeat the temptations and dangers of present times.

I know some Catholics who have been shown by The Holy Spirit the errors of the Catholic doctrines, and were going to leave the church but The Holy Spirit told them to stay as lights in the darkness, so lets be careful not to be all inclusive of Catholics in our posts. We also need to remember that there are a lot of false doctrines in a lot of the denominations, and that there are true Christians in all of them. The true Christians being those who are circumcised in the heart.

Charlie:

What a terrible 'Baptist' story. But that doesn't mean that all Baptists believe this way. This preacher was way out of line. I'm sure the Baptist religion doesn't condone divorcing your current spouce to remarry a previous one. That is ridiculous. You found an isolated case about a preacher who went against what his church really teaches. In doing so, you've decided to slam all Baptists?

The truth, I believe, about the Catholic church however, is that once you are divorced, you are no longer allowed to participate in certain catholic rituals. The Catholic church DOES condone treating the divorced as a second class citizen.

None of these are truths, they are lies.

Thou shall not bare false witness against thy nieghbor.

Where does the Catholic church say any of this. Find it!!!!!! You obviously know nothing about the Catholic Church, but you do know a lot of lies.

I know a Catholic woman who wasn't allowed to take communion after a divorce? Is this an isolated case or is it a practice? If it's an isolated case, it's about as valid as the Baptist story.

<<Jesus taught us to pray to God, not to himself or to dead people.>>

Dead people? I don't believe in soul sleep artsy. People who die in Christ live and are still part of the "church". They're not dead, they serve God. As far as "slamming" the Baptists goes, I didn't pick one isolated incident and turn against the Baptists because of it, I've got a list of reasons as long as my arm for not remaining a Baptist. Why are you so anti-Catholic? While I can say I know the Baptist doctrine up close and personal do you know the Catholic doctrine up close and personal? Instead of "slamming" those awful Catholics every chance you get I suggest you take a long hard look at the Baptist doctrine and dare I say it, man-made traditions and twisted interpretations. You might want to stick your nose in an encylopedia and find out just how your church came about in the first place. Let me put it in a nutshell for you, policitics first, desperately twisting scriptures to back up the politics second. Be sure and look up adult baptism while you're at it. That one was like pulling the rug out from under this old immersion only Baptist/CoC protestant, and the one that left me wondering if anything I'd always thought about my view of Christianity and the Bible was correct.

Tyler, you're tip-toeing around my question? Why don't you just say what you're trying so hard to avoid saying, that divorced people who remarry are going to hell, no ifs and or buts. That mealy-mouthing around isn't gonna work on me, I'm too old for it.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
